The Matthew Perry Foundation is teaming up with Healing Appalachia, the country’s biggest music festival focused on recovery

The event will be held September 19 and 20 in Ashland, Kentucky. As part of the collaboration, the foundation will cover lodging and support for over 400 camping volunteers, plus an additional 500 day volunteers traveling from recovery centers throughout the Appalachian region. This partnership is seen as a starting point for future joint efforts between MPF and Hope in the Hills, with the goal of broadening the impact and availability of community-based recovery programs across the U.S. Dave Lavender, board president of Hope in the Hills, shared his perspective: "We believe something transformative happens when a community unites around recovery. Matthew Perry once noted, 'Addiction is too powerful for anyone to face alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it.' That spirit defines Healing Appalachia—gathering each day to become our best selves, support one another in resisting addiction, and honor the journey of recovery." Partnerships like this show how different organizations can combine their strengths, merging resources and vision for a common purpose. Local events often carry a special momentum, and when they join forces with established foundations, the potential for meaningful impact grows significantly. Doug Chapin, Board President of MPF, and Lisa Kasteler-Calio, Executive Director, also remarked: "The Matthew Perry Foundation was established to make sure stigma never blocks anyone from receiving care or finding healing. By backing grassroots efforts like Healing Appalachia, we stand with the recovery community, shine a light on essential daily work, and help create a future built on compassion." This year’s festival will feature headliners Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton, along with sets by artists including Molly Tuttle, Remi Wolf, Lukas Nelson, Blackberry Smoke, American Aquarium, The Infamous Stringdusters, Cole Chaney, Jesse Welles, Jonas Conner, Hill Country Devil, Corduroy Brown and The Montvales, Brad Goodall, Conrad Moore, Andy Frasco, Jeremy Short, and others. The Matthew Perry Foundation was founded to continue the legacy of the "Friends" actor and his deep dedication to supporting those affected by addiction. The organization champions initiatives that emphasize dignity, compassion, community, and open dialogue around substance use disorder.
