The Beatles have unveiled a major autumn release: a refreshed take on the "Anthology" project, now expanded with new content for both the music collection and the documentary series

The updated documentary will stream as a series on Disney+, while the music box set introduces a new "Volume 4" with 13 previously unreleased demos and session recordings, plus other outtakes from recent deluxe editions. A ninth episode has been added to the documentary, featuring unseen footage of Paul, George, and Ringo working together in the mid-90s and looking back on their Beatles years. It's worth noting how projects like this keep finding new life, offering deeper insights long after the original work was completed. The thoughtful handling of archives reflects a commitment to honoring the band's journey and the lasting connection with listeners. Such releases remind us that artistic legacies are never truly finished, but continually rediscovered and reinterpreted. The book part of "Anthology" is also being reissued in a softcover 25th anniversary edition, though it contains no new material beyond the original 2000 content. The book will come out first on October 14, followed by the music collections on November 21 in vinyl, CD, digital, and streaming formats. The documentary series starts streaming on Disney+ on November 26, with the first three episodes available then. The entire documentary has been restored and remastered by Apple Corps in partnership with Peter Jackson’s teams and Giles Martin, who also curated the new audio mixes. The expanded music collection includes 191 tracks across eight CDs or 12 LPs, with "Anthology 4" contributing 36 of those. Highlights of the new volume include remixed versions of "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love," produced by Jeff Lynne using de-mixed John Lennon vocals, along with the recent single "Now and Then." "Anthology 4" combines 13 never-before-heard tracks with selections from earlier deluxe editions of albums like "Abbey Road," "Let It Be," the White Album, "Sgt. Pepper," and "Revolver," plus a couple from the limited "Bootleg Recordings 1963" release. Most of the unreleased material comes from the Beatles' early and mid-60s sessions for albums that haven't yet received full deluxe treatment. The track listing for "Anthology 4" includes a mix of familiar and fresh material, such as early takes of classics like "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Nowhere Man," along with rehearsals and instrumental versions from various periods. The new remix of "Free as a Bird" was released as a preview ahead of the full set.
