Spotify's editorial team has released its official Songs of Summer selections for 2025, with Sabrina Carpenter, Alex Warren, and Ravyn Lenae leading the pack

The highlighted songs are Warren's "Ordinary," Lenae's "Love Me Not," Carpenter's "Manchild," Sombr's "Back to Friends," and the remix of "Shake It to the Max (Fly)" by Moliy, Silent Addy, Skillibeng, and Shenseea. According to Spotify's data, this summer's music has been the least danceable and lowest in energy in the past ten years, based on factors like tempo, rhythmic consistency, and beat strength. The playlist reflects this change, and many listeners have pointed out the absence of traditional summer anthems. For example, "Ordinary" has gained attention as an emotional ballad with spiritual themes instead of a high-energy track, suggesting that audiences may be gravitating toward more reflective music or that artists are creating calmer releases. It’s fascinating to see how musical preferences shift, often mirroring wider societal trends and changing listener habits. This year’s trend could indicate a growing desire for more laid-back or thoughtful sounds during the summer season. Streaming statistics reveal that "Ordinary" was the most-played song of the summer, hitting its highest point on June 12. "Shake It to the Max" made it into Spotify's Top 50 in more than 45 countries, while "Love Me Not" reached its streaming peak on July 18. "Manchild" stayed at number one on the U.S. Daily Top Songs chart for 25 days in a row, and "Back to Friends" saw its highest streams on August 8. All tracks except "Manchild," which came out in June, were included in Spotify's initial summer predictions back in May. Reflecting on previous years, last summer's Global Top 5 featured Billie Eilish's "Birds of a Feather," Chappell Roan's "Hot to Go!," Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us," Carpenter's "Espresso," and Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)."
