A 16-year-old has been found guilty in Berlin for aiding a foiled terror plan targeting Taylor Swift's concerts in Vienna last year

Identified as Mohamad A, the teenager received an 18-month suspended sentence. He was just 14 years old when he became involved in the planned assault. Swift was set to perform at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium from August 8 to 10 as part of her Eras Tour's international dates. However, the concerts were called off by promoter Barracuda Music on August 7, after two individuals were arrested near Vienna in Ternitz the previous day. A third suspect was taken into custody on August 8. The BBC was the first to report the incident. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly circumstances can shift and how security operations often rely on cross-border cooperation. The rapid action by law enforcement underscores the critical need for constant awareness in an increasingly connected world. Following the arrests, officials at a press conference confirmed that the suspects had been radicalized online by the Islamic State. After concluding the European tour in London, Swift shared her feelings, stating, "Canceling our Vienna shows was heartbreaking. Discovering the reason left me fearful and guilty, thinking of all the fans who had arranged to be there. Yet, I felt overwhelming thankfulness for the authorities—thanks to them, we were dealing with disappointed plans, not tragedy." Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, Austria's head of State Security and Intelligence, noted last year that the primary suspect, known as Beran A, intended to carry out an attack close to the stadium with the aim of inflicting as many casualties as possible using knives and improvised explosives. The investigation into Beran A is still active.
