Demi Lovato Announces Ninth Album ‘It’s Not That Deep,’ Shares Release Date

Demi Lovato has revealed that her ninth studio album, titled "It’s Not That Deep," will arrive on October 24 under her DLG Recordings imprint in partnership with Island Records. The project, which includes 11 tracks, is executive produced by the hitmaker Zhone, known for his work with artists like Charli XCX and Kylie Minogue. Two singles, "Fast" and "Here All Night," have already been released, offering a preview of the upbeat, dance-pop direction Lovato is embracing this time around.

In a statement, Lovato explained the shift in tone from her previous work. “This album captures exactly where I am now—happy, in love, and ready to let go,” she shared. “Working with Zhone was freeing; it was all about having fun. In the past, I often turned to music to process heavy emotions, but these days I’m in a much lighter place. I realized it’s not that deep anymore, and that idea became the heart of this record. These songs are made for dancing, for late nights, and I can’t wait to share that energy.”

This new release marks a notable departure from her 2022 album "Holy Fvck," a rock-oriented project that reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and was supported by a 34-date tour with openers Dead Sara and Royal & the Serpent. Music critics have noted that Lovato’s career has often reflected her personal evolution; as one industry observer remarked, “Demi has never been afraid to reinvent her sound to match her journey, and this new chapter feels like a natural—and celebratory—progression.”

Beyond music, Lovato has also been expanding her presence in other creative fields. She recently appeared in the film “Tow,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June and co-stars Rose Byrne, Octavia Spencer, and Simon Rex. Looking further ahead, she has authored a cookbook titled “One Plate at a Time: Recipes for Finding Freedom With Food,” scheduled for release in March 2026. The book aims to share her perspective on building a healthy relationship with food—a topic she has spoken openly about in the past.
