Show moreCardi B Enlists Janet Jackson, Selena Gomez, Lizzo for Sophomore Album ‘Am I the Drama?’
In the lead-up to her sophomore album "Am I the Drama?", Cardi B has unveiled a star-studded lineup of collaborators. The roster features Summer Walker, Selena Gomez, Kehlani, Lizzo, Cash Cobain, Tyla, Janet Jackson, and Megan Thee Stallion. She broke the news using social media and eye-catching Spotify billboards in Los Angeles and Miami, generating a wave of enthusiasm among her global fanbase.
Cardi B—who made history in 2018 when her debut "Invasion of Privacy" won the Grammy for Best Rap Album—has kept public interest simmering with recent singles like "Outside" and "Imaginary Playerz," which cleverly samples Jay-Z’s 1997 hit "Imaginary Players." She amplified the buzz with a surprise New York pop-up that attracted massive crowds, and has announced further in-store appearances in Cypress, TX; Easton, PA; Riverdale, GA; and Long Beach, CA.
Appearing on "The Jennifer Hudson Show," the rapper opened up about ending her six-year album hiatus. “The project was fully complete—I truly believed the music world needed this,” she remarked. “I expressed everything I wanted to, and the timing felt right.” She also hinted at an impending tour, confirming she’s already preparing physically: “I’m working out and taking dance lessons,” though specific dates remain under wraps.
The promotional cycle hasn’t been free of real-world tension. Cardi recently testified in a $24 million lawsuit brought by a security guard alleging assault; after being fully exonerated, she channeled the attention into a marketing triumph. Limited edition vinyl copies of "Am I the Drama?" featuring imagery from her court appearance sold out almost instantly. As music journalist Janelle Wright observed, “Cardi B possesses a rare gift for turning personal adversity into art that resonates—a tactic that strengthens her bond with listeners.” This fusion of life and performance continues to shape her impactful presence in music and culture.
