Show moreVeteran Tour Chronicler Cameron Crowe Finally Set to Go on Tour Himself, With Guests Including Sheryl Crow and Kate Hudson
Acclaimed filmmaker Cameron Crowe, who first made his name writing about touring rock bands for Rolling Stone magazine, is launching a personal tour to celebrate the release of his new memoir, "The Uncool." The Oscar-winning director behind "Almost Famous" will appear at seven venues across the U.S., combining storytelling, personal reflections, and conversations with special guests. The tour kicks off on October 29 at Washington D.C.’s historic Warner Theatre, just one day after the book’s official publication.
Each stop on the tour will feature a different guest joining Crowe on stage. The opening night in D.C. will include CNN anchor Jake Tapper, while the following evening in Nashville will welcome Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, a longtime resident and favorite of the Music City scene. On November 13, "Almost Famous" star Kate Hudson will appear with Crowe at The Magnolia in El Cajon, near his longtime home base of San Diego. Other confirmed locations include Chicago’s Athenaeum Center, Seattle’s Benaroya Hall, two nights at The Montalban in Hollywood, and a final performance at San Francisco’s Orpheum Theatre. Guests for these dates have not yet been announced.
Crowe expressed enthusiasm for the live format, stating, “Sharing stories about the unforgettable people and experiences that shaped my career has always been something I love.” The tour also marks the 25th anniversary of "Almost Famous," offering fans a rare chance to hear behind-the-scenes anecdotes from Crowe’s celebrated work in film and music journalism. As cultural historian Dr. Lena Reyes notes, “Crowe has a unique ability to bridge the worlds of music, film, and memoir—these events promise to feel both personal and profoundly connected to American pop culture.”
Produced by Live Nation, the tour will offer a Cameron Crowe presale beginning Thursday at 10 a.m. local time, with additional presales and general ticket sales starting Friday via LiveNation.com. "The Uncool" is the first of two planned memoirs drawing from Crowe’s early years as a music journalist. In a recent interview, he mentioned that revisiting his conversations with icons like David Bowie and Led Zeppelin inspired deeper reflection on his own artistic evolution. A second volume, which will include new interviews and never-before-published material, is scheduled for release next year.
