Show moreD4vd Cancels U.S. Tour Amid Investigation Into Dead Body in Car Registered to Him
Following the discovery of a body in a vehicle registered to him, musician D4vd has canceled all remaining U.S. tour dates as law enforcement continues its investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department initiated the probe on September 8 after officers, responding to reports of a foul odor at a Hollywood impound lot, located human remains inside the front trunk of a Tesla owned by the artist, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke.
Late Thursday, two scheduled appearances—a Los Angeles concert on Saturday and a September 24 event at the Grammy Museum—were removed from official listings. Although a San Francisco show on September 19 was still advertised for sale Friday morning, entertainment outlet TMZ later confirmed the cancellation of all remaining domestic performances. A Seattle concert earlier in the week had already been called off. At this time, tickets for D4vd’s European tour, set to begin October 1 in Norway, remain available.
The deceased has been identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Celeste Rivas, a teenager from Lake Elsinore, California, who had been missing since April 5. Her body was found bagged inside the car, which had been parked for days at the tow facility. Unverified images allegedly showing Burke with Rivas began circulating online after the grim discovery. Both The New York Times and NBC News reported that the Tesla had not been reported stolen and that Burke is cooperating with authorities. Legal analyst Miranda Cruz observed, “While cooperation doesn’t prove innocence, it often signals a willingness to engage with the process, which can influence legal proceedings.”
Burke, 20, rose to prominence with viral hits “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” each surpassing a billion streams on Spotify. His second album, “Withered,” was released in April, and he recently debuted a single that became the first official anthem for the popular game Fortnite. He was in the middle of his “Withered” North American tour when news of the investigation broke; he performed in Minneapolis just one day after the discovery without addressing the situation publicly.
In response to these developments, several corporate partners have suspended collaborations with the singer. Crocs and Hollister both halted their “Dream Drop” campaign initiatives involving D4vd shortly after the body was found. A deluxe edition of “Withered,” originally scheduled for September 19, has also been postponed indefinitely. As the inquiry continues, further updates are expected.
