‘Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl’ to Hit Theaters in October With ‘Fate of Ophelia’ Music Video Premiere and Album Commentary (EXCLUSIVE)

This fall, Taylor Swift is bringing a one-of-a-kind cinematic event to theaters worldwide. On October 3, coinciding with the release of her twelfth studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl," Swift will debut "Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl"—an 89-minute immersive experience designed to echo the exclusive "secret sessions" she has hosted for fans in the past. The film will screen from Friday through Sunday that weekend, offering an intimate look into her creative process.

The event will be shown in all 540 AMC Theatre locations—continuing a groundbreaking distribution partnership between Swift and AMC Theatres Distribution—as well as at Cinemark, Regal, and other major chains throughout North America. Screenings will begin at 3 p.m. ET / noon PT on October 3. Attendees can expect the world premiere of the music video for the album’s lead single, "The Fate of Ophelia," along with exclusive behind-the-scenes content, lyric videos, and personal insights from Swift about the inspiration behind her new work.

Tickets are set at $12, a nod to the fact that "The Life of a Showgirl" is Swift’s twelfth album and contains twelve tracks. Sales launch today at 12:12 p.m. ET via amctheatres.com and releasepartyofashowgirl.com. In a departure from typical cinema rules, singing and dancing are encouraged—though standing on seats or blocking aisles remains prohibited. The event will begin promptly with no trailers or advertisements, so fans are advised to arrive on time.

The release will also be shown in over 100 countries, with select markets—including Canada, Mexico, the U.K., France, Australia, and New Zealand—screening it concurrently with the U.S. from October 3–5. Tickets in these regions go on sale this Tuesday, while other territories will receive the film later in October. This global rollout highlights Swift’s unparalleled ability to engage international audiences. As music industry analyst Clara Mendez notes, "She has transformed album releases into experiential, must-see moments, setting a new standard for artist-fan interaction."

Rumors had circulated that Swift’s next film would document her record-breaking Eras Tour, but this project instead focuses on promoting new music. Her previous concert film, "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour"—also distributed by AMC Theatres Distribution—became the highest-grossing concert film in history with $262 million in global earnings. While the new event is not expected to match those numbers due to its limited run, it provides a timely boost to theaters during a competitive season that includes major releases like "The Smashing Machine" and the re-release of "Avatar: The Way of Water."
