Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are officially married, following a ceremony that took place last Saturday. The celebrated singer commemorated the event by posting a collection of polaroid pictures and short film snippets from the wedding day to her Instagram, giving fans a personal look at the celebration.
The pair's history extends back more than ten years, to when Gomez was around 17. Their initial meeting was orchestrated by Gomez's mother, who sought the established producer's mentorship for her daughter's growing career in music. This professional introduction swiftly grew into a strong personal friendship and a successful creative alliance. Blanco's early contributions included production work on two tracks for Gomez's 2015 album "Revival," while Gomez later lent her vocals to a song on his 2019 project. Their collaboration continued into 2023 with the single "Single Soon," the very year their connection transitioned into a romantic one.
Their artistic partnership achieved a significant milestone this past March with the release of the joint album "I Said I Love You First," a 14-track project. Ahead of the album's launch, Spotify featured a 33-minute discussion between the two artists, providing insight into their collaborative process. Gomez described their songwriting as a natural extension of their daily lives, noting, "We’d get up in the morning and have a conversation. But our conversation was never led going, ‘What are we going to write in the album?’" Blanco echoed this sentiment, revealing he often found lyrical inspiration in Gomez's own words, frequently making notes on his phone during their talks. This organic method highlights a key reason many successful songwriting duos endure—their work stems from genuine, shared experience rather than forced studio sessions.
The profound creative understanding they developed clearly paved the way for their personal union. After confirming their romantic relationship in 2023, the couple announced their engagement by December 2024, leading to this weekend's wedding. This journey from studio collaborators to life partners illustrates a modern trajectory where deep professional respect and friendship can form the bedrock of a lasting personal commitment, a dynamic increasingly common in the entertainment industry.
