Netflix’s ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Launches in ‘Fortnite’ (Gaming News Roundup)

A major collaboration between Epic Games and Netflix will bring the world of the animated hit "KPop Demon Hunters" into Fortnite. From October 2 to November 1, players can obtain character outfits for Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, as well as thematic gear like spicy ramyeon. A new "Demon Rush Mode" will also debut, tasking squads with defending the Honmoon as the HUNTR/X unit. This partnership underscores a growing trend where entertainment properties leverage interactive gaming spaces to expand their reach and engage with new audiences.

In a parallel move, Epic Games is licensing official "KPop Demon Hunters" assets from Netflix to its creator community, enabling them to design and publish custom Fortnite experiences starting October 2. Fortnite, which began as a battle royale game but has since transformed into a vast creative ecosystem, is increasingly used by media companies as a launchpad for immersive storytelling. An industry expert commented, "This strategy goes beyond simple promotion—it empowers fans to co-create, which can significantly extend the lifespan of an intellectual property."

Meanwhile, Ubisoft has officially formed a new subsidiary, Vantage Studios, to manage several of its flagship franchises. The studio will be helmed by co-CEOs Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot and will consolidate over 2,300 developers dedicated solely to the "Assassin's Creed," "Far Cry," and "Rainbow Six" series. Tencent, the Chinese tech giant that holds a substantial stake in Ubisoft, is also a partial owner of Vantage Studios. Despite this, the new entity has been granted full creative and operational autonomy while remaining integrated within Ubisoft's corporate structure.

In the esports sector, cinematic broadcasts are emerging as a powerful tool for enhancing viewer engagement. European distributor Piece of Magic Entertainment (POM) has revealed that two of Riot Games’ premier 2025 tournaments will be shown live in cinemas. The VALORANT Champions 2025 Grand Final, taking place in Paris on October 5, will be screened in select theaters across nine territories. This will be followed on November 9 by the League of Legends World Championship Finals from Chengdu, China, available in more than 30 European countries. By offering these events on the big screen, POM aims to replicate the excitement of a live arena, providing fans with a premium, shared viewing experience that elevates traditional at-home streaming.
