‘You Got Gold: A Celebration of John Prine’ Tribute Concert Doc to Be Released by Abramorama

North American theatrical rights for the documentary "You Got Gold – A Celebration of John Prine" have been secured by Abramorama. The film, a collaboration between RadicalMedia and Oh Boy Pictures, captures a star-studded tribute concert held at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium. It features performances from an array of celebrated artists including Brandi Carlile, Kacey Musgraves, Tyler Childers, Bonnie Raitt, and Grateful Dead co-founder Bob Weir, all complemented by exclusive backstage interviews.

A theatrical rollout is set to begin with a one-week engagement at New York's Quad Cinema starting November 28, followed by a wider expansion. An earlier premiere will take place on October 9 at Nashville's Belcourt Theater. This timing is significant, as it precedes the fourth and final memorial concert at the Ryman by just one day, creating a powerful, connected experience for attendees. The documentary first made waves with a sold-out debut at the Nashville Film Festival. The Ryman Auditorium, originally built as a gospel tabernacle in 1892 and famously known as the "Mother Church of Country Music," has long been a hallowed hall for musical legends, making it the perfect setting for honoring Prine's legacy.

The memorial series was spearheaded by Fiona Whelan Prine as a tribute to her late husband, the revered singer-songwriter John Prine, who died from COVID-19 complications in April 2020. Over a career spanning five decades, Prine became renowned for his unique lyrical blend of wit and melancholy, earning him two Grammy Awards and induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. "The collective grief we experienced was compounded by our inability to gather," Fiona Whelan Prine reflected. "This film finally captures that communal healing at the Ryman, which was always John's most cherished stage."

Abramorama's executives voiced their profound respect for the project. Founder Richard Abramowitz and CEO Karol Martesko-Fenster jointly remarked, "John Prine's songwriting is a cornerstone of American music. This documentary immortalizes a powerful, communal act of remembrance for a truly irreplaceable artist." The Belcourt Theater has committed to an extended screening schedule running through the end of the year and into 2026. In a parallel effort, Oh Boy Records—the pioneering independent label Prine founded in 1981, which set a new standard for artist autonomy in the industry—will roll out a series of premium digital releases and rare collectibles. This initiative offers both devoted followers and new listeners unique opportunities to engage with his enduring musical catalog.
