ABC News Sets ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere’ Special With Cast, Bruce Springsteen (TV News Roundup)

On Monday, October 21, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, ABC News Live will air a special television presentation, "Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere – A Conversation with the Cast." Hosted by George Stephanopoulos—the co-anchor of Good Morning America and a veteran political commentator—the program features an exclusive interview with Bruce Springsteen. The rock legend, whose 1982 album 'Nebraska' is often hailed as a landmark in American music, will discuss the making of his upcoming biopic, share anecdotes from his touring life, and provide other insider perspectives. This broadcast is unique in that it is the only one to assemble Springsteen alongside the film's complete cast and production team.

The forthcoming biopic, sharing the same title, stars Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong, and Paul Walter Hauser. A never-before-seen clip from the film will be shown during the special. In other programming news, Bravo will launch "Surviving Mormonism with Heather Gay" on November 11. This three-part limited series will be available on Peacock the following day, scheduled to air immediately after a new episode of "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City." That reality series has previously documented Gay's complex and public journey with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Heather Gay, who has become a prominent voice for individuals leaving high-control religious environments, will guide viewers through each episode as she uncovers difficult truths. The series intends to dismantle the church's public image by exposing long-hidden secrets, featuring conversations with abuse survivors, former members, and ex-leaders. As one sociologist who studies religious communities noted, "Documentaries like this frequently trigger wider public conversation, encouraging others who have left to share their stories and increasing scrutiny on influential organizations."

Separately, Great American Media has greenlit a second season of its original faith-based drama "Crossroad Springs" and a musical holiday special titled "Crossroad Springs Christmas." The series, a co-production from Nicely Entertainment and Brain Power Studios, is slated to return in 2026 and will be distributed across Great American Pure Flix, Great American Family, and the GFAM+ streaming service. The one-hour Christmas special, starring Jonathan Stoddard and Jillian Cardarelli performing original songs, will air this December as part of the studio's fifth-anniversary celebration for its Great American Christmas programming event, which has become a staple of the network's seasonal lineup.

In casting developments, actor Cas Anvar has joined the spinoff series "S.W.A.T Exiles" in a guest-starring capacity. Anvar, widely recognized for his role as Alex Kamal in the celebrated sci-fi drama "The Expanse," will portray Monte Barzarian, a menacing figure who has operated a drug empire under the guise of a family-run business. The spinoff, an offshoot of the 2017 CBS series "S.W.A.T," follows an experimental unit composed of inexperienced recruits. The story begins when a critical mission goes awry, forcing the retired Daniel "Hondo" Harrison, played by Shemar Moore, to return to active duty and take command of the new team.

Looking ahead, the Movies for Grownups Awards, presented by AARP, are set for January 10 at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, California. This year's host is Alan Cumming, the acclaimed actor who also serves as the host of Peacock's popular reality competition "The Traitors." For more than twenty years, the Movies for Grownups platform has championed age-inclusive storytelling, celebrating the contributions of performers and filmmakers aged 50 and over. The 2025 ceremony will present honors in categories including Best Actor, Best Movie for Grownups, and Best Director, and will bestow a Career Achievement Award on an individual whose work has left a deep and enduring mark on the entertainment world.
