Show moreFoo Fighters Set North American Stadium Tour, Releases New Single
Foo Fighters are embarking on a major 12-city stadium run across North America, marking their first large-scale tour following the 2023-2024 "Everything or Nothing at All" itinerary. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a new single, "Asking for a Friend." In a personal note, frontman Dave Grohl expressed that returning to the stage has profoundly reaffirmed the deep connection between the band, their music, and their fans. The current lineup features Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, and their newest member, drummer Ilan Rubin, who officially joined the roster in 2023.
Grohl characterized the new song as an uplifting anthem for those enduring difficult periods while maintaining hope for better days ahead. He highlighted the band's renewed energy, explaining that re-engaging with their vast body of work alongside Rubin has solidified their creative core. This refreshed dynamic comes as the band approaches three decades of influence, a legacy cemented by albums like their 1997 landmark record, "The Colour and the Shape." That album, which includes perennial favorites "Everlong" and "My Hero," is often credited with helping to define the post-grunge era and has been certified platinum in multiple countries.
The extensive tour is scheduled to commence on August 4 at Toronto's Rogers Stadium and will conclude on September 26 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. For all but one date, the powerhouse support act will be Queens of the Stone Age. Grohl took a moment to reflect on his long-standing creative partnership with Queens frontman Josh Homme, noting their history of collaboration in projects like Them Crooked Vultures and expressing his enthusiasm for touring again with what he described as Homme's "almighty" band. The sole exception to this billing is the September 12 performance in Fargo.
Industry experts see significant value in this pairing. Maria Chen, a live music analyst at SoundScan Data, commented, "Bringing together two rock titans like this is a strategic powerhouse. It not only drives huge ticket demand but also underscores the lasting appeal of guitar-based rock in today’s concert landscape." This double-headliner strategy is anticipated to draw a wide-ranging audience, merging the Foo Fighters' anthemic rock with Queens of the Stone Age's distinctive, gritty desert-rock vibe.
General public ticket sales are set to start on October 31 at 10 a.m. local time. The band has also indicated that additional tour dates will be announced in the future. The initial schedule includes: August 4 in Toronto, ON at Rogers Stadium; August 6 in Detroit, MI at Ford Field; August 8 in Chicago, IL at Soldier Field; August 10 in Cleveland, OH at Huntington Bank Field; August 13 in Philadelphia, PA at Lincoln Financial Field; August 15 in Nashville, TN at Nissan Stadium; August 17 in Washington, DC at Nationals Park; September 12 in Fargo, ND at the Fargodome; September 15 in Regina, SK at Mosaic Stadium; September 17 in Edmonton, AB at Commonwealth Stadium; September 20 in Vancouver, BC at BC Place; and the finale on September 26 in Las Vegas, NV at Allegiant Stadium.
