Show moreBillboard Latin Music Awards Winners List: Bad Bunny, Karol G and Fuerza Regida
The 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards, presented by a trio of hosts—Elizabeth Gutiérrez, Goyo, and Javier Poza—saw an unforgettable sweep by Bad Bunny, Karol G, and Fuerza Regida. The night featured moving tributes to artists including Elvis Crespo, Laura Pausini, and Peso Pluma, but the most talked-about moment was the long-awaited return of Daddy Yankee. The reggaeton pioneer, whose 2004 anthem "Gasolina" is often cited as the track that launched the genre worldwide, delivered a show-stopping performance that brought the audience to its feet.
In a record-breaking achievement, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, secured an incredible 11 awards. His album "Debí Tirar Más Fotos" (DTMF) earned Top Latin Album of the Year, while its title track won three honors, among them Streaming Song of the Year. The artist—who first gained international attention with his 2016 viral hit "Soy Peor"—also claimed the evening’s most prestigious accolades: Artist of the Year, Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year, and Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Male. The ceremony’s emotional peak came when screen legend Rita Moreno, herself a cultural icon from Puerto Rico, presented him with the Billboard Top Latin Artist of the 21st Century award.
Karol G followed as a dominant force, taking home six awards. Her single "Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido" proved unstoppable, sweeping categories such as Global 200 Latin Song of the Year, Latin Airplay Song of the Year, Sales Song of the Year, and Tropical Song of the Year. According to music industry analyst Dr. Elena Reyes, "When one song dominates across streaming, radio, and sales, it reflects a fundamental shift—today’s hits transcend genre boundaries and connect with listeners everywhere." This underscores how Latin music’s commercial and cultural footprint continues to expand globally.
Fuerza Regida earned five awards, including Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. Their collaboration with Óscar Maydon, "Tu Boda," was a double winner, receiving both Regional Mexican Song of the Year and Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event. Other notable multiple winners included Shakira, who claimed three awards—among them Tour of the Year and Latin Pop Song of the Year for "Soltera"—alongside Peso Pluma, Netón Vega, and Óscar Maydon, each of whom collected two trophies.
Special honors celebrated lasting legacies: Laura Pausini was presented with the Billboard Icon Award, Peso Pluma received the Billboard Vanguard Award, and merengue star Elvis Crespo—whose 1998 global hit "Suavemente" remains a dance floor staple—was inducted into the Billboard Hall of Fame. Taken together, the evening not only recognized outstanding individual artistry but also illustrated the vibrant, ever-changing landscape of Latin music, where new stars rise while legendary figures continue to shape its direction.
