Journey Announces Plan to Finally Go Separate Ways, With Farewell Tour Set to Begin in 2026

Journey, the legendary rock band responsible for timeless anthems like "Don't Stop Believin'," has announced its farewell tour, marking the end of a storied musical era. Promoted by AEG, the "Final Frontier Tour 2026" will launch next year without a confirmed end date. The first North American leg comprises 60 arena shows, commencing on February 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and concluding July 2 in Laredo, Texas. Founding guitarist Neal Schon previously suggested the tour could extend into 2027, but details about international dates remain unconfirmed.

This announcement puts to rest recent uncertainty about the band's future, which emerged after Schon posted conflicting statements on social media in early October concerning keyboardist Jonathan Cain's role. Schon later confirmed Cain will remain through the 2026–27 tour before departing. This ensures the global tour will serve as the final series of performances for the present configuration. The resolution is especially significant given that Schon and Cain—both Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees—have openly disagreed in recent years over financial and political matters, yet continued to collaborate on stage.

Neal Schon, the only founding member to have remained with Journey since its formation in 1973, offered a reflective statement. "As the band’s founder, I’ve carried the Journey flame everywhere I go," he said. "That spirit will always live on. While we’re closing one powerful chapter, I want everyone to know my own musical journey isn’t over—there are new creative paths ahead. This tour is both a thank you and a new beginning." Jonathan Cain, who joined the group in 1980 and co-wrote many hits on the diamond-certified album Escape, called his time with the band "an incredible ride" and described the final tour as an opportunity for "gratitude, connection, and one last shared celebration."

The 2026 schedule notably leaves out major markets like Southern California and New York City, likely reserved for a second leg yet to be announced. However, fans in cities such as Pittsburgh, Montreal, Vancouver, and Washington, D.C., will get an early opportunity to see the band live. The current lineup also includes longtime drummer Deen Castronovo (a member since 1998), keyboardist Jason Derlatka (joined in 2020), and bassist Todd Jensen. Lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, who was famously discovered through YouTube in 2007 and officially joined in 2008, expressed his gratitude: "Being part of this legacy is an honor. Every performance has been a dream." Industry analyst Maria Flores of Concert Trackers noted, "Journey’s ability to consistently sell out arenas decades after their commercial peak speaks to the enduring power of their catalog and the loyalty of their fan base."

Tickets will first be available through a Citi cardholder presale starting November 11 at 10 a.m. local time, with the general public on-sale following on November 14 at the same time. The newly confirmed 2026 dates include Hershey, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Washington, D.C.; Montreal, QC; Vancouver, BC; Kansas City, MO; Atlantic City, NJ; New Orleans, LA; Austin, TX; Des Moines, IA; Sacramento, CA; Buffalo, NY; and several other cities across the U.S. and Canada.
