Show moreVariety to Host Inaugural Interview Lounge In Partnership With the CMA Awards
Marking its debut in Nashville, Variety's Interview Lounge is coming to town on November 17th and 18th, just before the CMA Awards. Sponsored by the grooming company Duke Cannon, the lounge will feature dialogues with leading nominees and established country musicians. This move into Music City highlights the increasing national attention on Nashville's vibrant music industry, which consistently draws significant media and corporate partnerships due to its powerful cultural reach.
The 59th Annual CMA Awards are scheduled for a live broadcast from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 19th, airing on ABC at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT. For viewers without cable, a streaming version will be accessible on Hulu starting the next day. Hosting this year’s ceremony is Lainey Wilson, an artist who has won nine CMA Awards and whose genuine persona has struck a chord with today’s country music fans. Lainey Wilson, whose 2022 album 'Bell Bottom Country' earned a Grammy, represents a new wave of artists blending traditional themes with contemporary sounds.
Dea Lawrence, co-president and publisher of Variety, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, "We appreciate Duke Cannon’s support for our first CMA Awards interview lounge, which will spotlight top country music talent. With Variety’s unmatched music journalism, we’re excited to join Nashville in honoring one of the genre’s biggest nights."
Hank Mercier, CEO of Duke Cannon, reinforced the partnership’s strategic fit. "Partnering with Variety for their CMA Awards coverage is a privilege for Duke Cannon. Our focus is on dependable, high-quality grooming essentials for men—powerful, masculine scents created to ensure guys present their finest selves. Teaming with Variety, the definitive voice in entertainment reporting, aligns seamlessly with our brand’s identity," Mercier noted. Duke Cannon, recognized for its utilitarian, military-inspired range, has effectively secured a loyal following in the men’s care sector by stressing toughness and honest pricing. Industry analyst Mark Sellers observed, "Brands like Duke Cannon gain authenticity by associating with culturally rooted events, which strengthens consumer trust in a crowded market."
All lounge interviews will take place at Anzie Blue, a notable Nashville location celebrated as the city’s sole woman-owned music and event venue. Selecting this space reflects a deliberate push to champion diverse entrepreneurship in the music world—an issue gaining momentum among industry leaders. The distinctive atmosphere of Anzie Blue is anticipated to enrich the frank artist conversations about their work and the awards ceremony, offering a fresh perspective compared to typical corporate settings.
