Show moreRosalía’s ‘Lux’ Becomes Her First Top 10 Album, Debuting at No. 4
Rosalía has secured a significant career milestone with her orchestral album "Lux" arriving at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, marking her debut in the chart's top 10. Data from Luminate reveals the project amassed 46,000 equivalent album units—a personal best for the artist—fueled by 34 million on-demand streams and 19,000 in traditional sales. The standard 15-track release was expanded to 18 songs across physical formats and featured collaborations with Björk, Yves Tumor, and Portuguese fado vocalist Carminho. This performance marks a notable leap from her previous album "Motomami," which debuted and peaked at No. 33.
Physical editions played a crucial role in the album's strong opening, with four distinct CD box sets, two vinyl LP variants—one signed by Rosalía—as well as standard CD and digital purchases. The project was preceded by the single "Berghain." In an interview with El País, Rosalía explained the title’s origin: "The word 'lux' kept returning to me. It was during the 'Motomami' tour that its meaning became clear—it felt like the right moment to embrace that feeling and create from it." This artistic evolution underscores her growing influence in blending flamenco roots with avant-garde pop, a style that has earned her two Grammy Awards and a dedicated global following.
Elsewhere in the top 10, Tomorrow X Together member Yeonjun made his solo debut as "No Labels: Part 01" entered at No. 10, earning 29,000 equivalent album units—27,000 of which came from album sales bolstered by multiple CD editions. Meanwhile, Olivia Dean’s "The Art of Loving" climbed from No. 7 to No. 5, achieving a new peak with 41,000 units. Industry experts point to the increasing frequency of international artists in the upper reaches of the chart as evidence of music consumption’s expanding global footprint. As one analyst observed, "When acts from Spain, the UK, and South Korea consistently appear in the top tier, it signals a fundamental shift toward borderless listening habits."
Taylor Swift’s "The Life of a Showgirl" maintained its grip on the No. 1 position for a sixth consecutive week, earning 110,000 equivalent album units. With this achievement, Swift becomes the second artist in 2025—following Morgan Wallen’s "I’m the Problem"—to spend its first six weeks at the chart’s summit. Such sustained dominance early in a release cycle often stems from intensely loyal fan communities and strategically staggered promotional campaigns. This kind of extended chart control not only reflects powerful audience engagement but can also set a precedent, encouraging labels to plan longer, more deliberate album rollouts to maximize impact.
