‘The Moment’ Trailer: Charli xcx Goes Meta and Embarks on a ‘Brat’ Tour in A24 Movie

The first trailer for "The Moment," a new A24 production starring pop phenomenon Charli xcx, has officially debuted. The film, which originated from the singer's own concept, casts the "Brat" artist in a self-referential role as a rising pop star grappling with the intense pressures of fame and the music industry while preparing for her first major arena tour. This project is particularly significant as the inaugural release from her newly established production company, Studio365.

Directed by Aidan Zamiri, the movie boasts an impressive ensemble. The cast includes Kylie Jenner, Alexander Skarsgård, and Rachel Sennott, with supporting performances from Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, and Shygirl. The script was co-written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, while the soundtrack was created by A. G. Cook, a frequent and pivotal collaborator in Charli xcx's musical career. The project was first announced earlier this year in an exclusive report by Variety, a leading trade publication known for its deep industry connections and breaking entertainment news.

Charli xcx's foray into acting is rapidly accelerating. She recently expressed her enthusiasm for this new creative path to Variety's Marc Malkin, following a series of appearances in 2024 films such as "Erupcja," "100 Nights of Hero," and the adventure comedy "Sacrifice." Her upcoming slate is even more packed, with roles in the "Faces of Death" remake, Gregg Araki's "I Want Your Sex," and Cathy Yan's "The Gallerist," where she will share the screen with Jenna Ortega and Natalie Portman. This trajectory follows a long tradition of musicians successfully crossing over into film; icons like David Bowie in "The Man Who Fell to Earth" and Cher in "Moonstruck" demonstrated how a distinctive artistic persona can translate powerfully to acting. Charli elaborated on her motivation, stating, "I am really enjoying my acting journey. I feel very, very inspired at the moment in that field, I feel unbelievably creative, and I only ever want to do things that inspire me and make me feel energized."

Scheduled for a 2026 theatrical release, the trailer has already generated significant buzz. It positions "The Moment" as a highly anticipated, meta-textual exploration of modern pop stardom and the psychological weight carried by artists operating within a high-stakes commercial environment. Industry analysts suggest this introspective theme could resonate strongly with audiences in an era increasingly focused on artist mental health.
