Show moreSpotify Wrapped 2025: Bad Bunny Is the Most-Streamed Global Artist of the Year
Spotify's highly anticipated 2025 Wrapped results are now public, with global streaming supremacy returning to Bad Bunny. The Puerto Rican superstar, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, reclaims the title of the platform's most-streamed artist worldwide, having previously dominated the spot for an unprecedented three-year streak from 2020 through 2022. This annual data showcase, which catalogues the year's leading musical and audio trends, underscores his enduring cross-cultural resonance.
Bad Bunny's performance edged out Taylor Swift, who secured second place globally, and The Weeknd in third, with Drake and Billie Eilish rounding out the top five. His latest album, "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS," was named the top global album, and its single "DtMF" landed among the world's top five tracks. Notably, his 2022 release "Un Verano Sin Ti" reappeared in the global top ten—a testament to remarkable longevity for a three-year-old project. Analysts attribute this sustained success to his innovative fusion of reggaeton with other genres and a relentless touring schedule; his 2025 "Most Wanted Tour" filled stadiums across North and South America, demonstrating that physical touring and digital streaming can powerfully reinforce each other in building a lasting career.
In the United States, however, the hierarchy shifted. Taylor Swift led as the top-streamed artist, followed by Drake, country music powerhouse Morgan Wallen, Kendrick Lamar, and then Bad Bunny. Lamar also scored the top U.S. song with "Luther" featuring SZA, while Wallen's album "I’m the Problem" topped the domestic albums chart. Beyond music, the audio landscape showed familiar patterns, with "The Joe Rogan Experience" maintaining its stronghold as the number-one podcast globally and in the U.S. The top audiobook was Rebecca Yarros's fantasy novel "Fourth Wing," pointing to the platform's expanding role in the spoken-word entertainment sector, which has grown significantly since Spotify began aggressively investing in podcast and audiobook content in 2019.
This year's Wrapped launch introduced a suite of new personalized features designed to deepen user engagement. Key additions include "Listening Age," which benchmarks a user's musical preferences against others in their demographic, and "Wrapped Party," a social tool for comparing stats with friends. A novel "Listening Archive" provides a detailed chronology of a user's most active streaming days throughout the year. These customized data summaries have transcended a mere year-end review to become a significant digital cultural event. As media anthropologist Dr. Anya Sharma notes, "Wrapped has successfully ritualized personal data, transforming individual listening habits into a form of social currency and identity performance shared across networks every December." The campaign consistently drives a substantial annual spike in social media activity and platform interaction, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of modern music fandom.
