Show moreWarner Names Jeff Sosnow President of Reprise Records
Warner Records Group has elevated Jeff Sosnow to the position of President at Reprise Records, while he concurrently retains his executive vice president of A&R role for Warner Records. In this dual capacity, Sosnow will steer the future of the iconic Reprise label—originally established by Frank Sinatra in 1960 and later managed by the famed executive Mo Ostin—while continuing to shape artist and repertoire strategy for Warner Records itself, which was recently honored as Variety's 2024 Hitmakers Label of the Year. He will continue reporting to Warner Records Group Co-Chairman and CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck from Los Angeles.
Aaron Bay-Schuck expressed strong confidence in the appointment, stating, "Jeff has been instrumental to our A&R achievements, and I'm delighted he will continue guiding key artists like Benson Boone, Rufus du Sol, and Billy Strings while now leading Reprise." He emphasized the unique stature of the imprint, adding, "Reprise occupies a singular place in music history, built on a foundation of pioneering artists and enduring albums. Jeff possesses the precise vision and expertise to both honor that legacy and propel it forward." Industry analysts note that merging historical prestige with contemporary A&R acumen is a strategic move, as legacy labels increasingly seek to leverage their heritage in a competitive market.
In his response, Sosnow highlighted his career-long dedication to artist development. "My core passion has always been advocating for artists—helping transform their personal narratives and ambitions into music that resonates globally," he said. "I'm profoundly honored to continue this work at Warner Records and immensely thankful to Aaron and Tom Corson for their trust. Taking the helm at Reprise, a label I've long revered, is a privilege, and I am eager to build upon its extraordinary foundation."
Reprise Records holds a storied place in music. Founded by Frank Sinatra to allow artists greater creative control, its initial iteration after merging with Warner Bros. Records in 1963 released landmark albums from icons like The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, and Joni Mitchell. Today, it functions as a distinct imprint within the Warner Records Group ecosystem, with all roster artists collaborating closely with the broader Warner team.
Jeff Sosnow brings extensive experience to his new role, having been with Warner Bros. Records (now Warner Records) since 2012. During his tenure, he has worked with a diverse array of acts spanning genres, from the alternative metal of Deftones and the country-inspired sounds of Orville Peck to the pop sensibilities of AJR and the indie rock of Tegan and Sara. This broad background positions him well to identify and nurture talent for Reprise's next chapter.
