Show moreLady Gaga Pauses Sydney Show After Mayhem Ball Dancer Falls Off Stage
During a performance at Sydney's Accor Stadium on December 13, Lady Gaga abruptly halted her show when dancer Michael Dameski slipped on the wet stage and fell into the pit. The incident occurred while the artist was singing "Garden of Eden" as part of her Mayhem Ball Tour. Gaga immediately rushed to the edge of the stage, signaling for the music to stop, and addressed the concerned audience to explain the brief delay. After ensuring Dameski was not seriously hurt by hopping down to check on him, the concert proceeded.
The stage conditions were a factor, as rain had made the surface slick. Later in the evening, Gaga paused the performance a second time to allow the dance crew to adjust their footwear for better traction. Dameski, a professional dancer who won the Australian version of "So You Think You Can Dance" in 2008, later confirmed on his Instagram Story that he was uninjured and completed the final show of the year. Footage of the moment was shared on the official Mayhem Ball X page.
This tour supports Gaga's sixth studio album, "Mayhem," which was released in March. The global concert series began in July at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena—a major venue known for hosting premier residencies and sporting events—and has traveled through North America and Europe before its Australian leg. The production schedule remains unaffected, with shows set to resume in Japan this January before a return to the United States in February.
The "Mayhem" album itself has received significant critical acclaim, earning six Grammy Award nominations, including the prestigious categories of Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Industry analysts note that such high-profile recognition often boosts tour demand, as seen with previous multi-nominated albums. As one music journalist observed, "Award season buzz can transform a concert tour into a cultural event, adding a layer of urgency for fans to secure tickets."
