Dionne Warwick, Saweetie and Mya Team Up on New Version of Diane Warren’s ‘One Heart’ for Climate Change Awareness

Dionne Warwick, Saweetie, and Mya have united to record a fresh rendition of "One Heart (Can Change The World)," a song written by acclaimed songwriter Diane Warren. This track serves as the theme for the upcoming family film "OZi: Voice of the Forest," with both projects designed to spotlight the perils of climate change, drawing particular inspiration from the devastating Los Angeles wildfires of the previous year.

The song was produced by Grammy-winning producer Damon Elliott, while the film is produced by veteran Hollywood producer Mike Medavoy in collaboration with Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions and GCI Film. The project carries a profound personal connection for both Elliott and Warren, as each lost their homes in those January blazes. The single is scheduled for release this spring.

"OZi: Voice of the Forest" tells the story of a young orangutan separated from her parents. Raised in an animal sanctuary, OZi leverages her platform as an influencer to rescue her family and their forest home from destruction. The animated feature aims to educate audiences on the critical threats posed by rampant deforestation to rainforest ecosystems and global climate stability. The voice cast includes notable figures such as Laura Dern, Amandla Stenberg, Donald Sutherland, and RuPaul Charles.

Industry experts note that leveraging entertainment for environmental messaging can significantly broaden outreach. "Film and music have a unique power to translate complex issues into emotionally resonant stories that drive public awareness and action," observes Dr. Anya Sharma, an environmental communications specialist.

"Producing this song for such a cause is deeply personal, as I was directly impacted by those tragic fires last year," stated Damon Elliott. "Losing my home and everything in it makes OZi's story, which deals with climate-induced fires, particularly heart-wrenching." Diane Warren shared her inspiration, noting, "Watching the film, which beautifully illustrates how one heart can change the world, moved me to write this song." Producer Mike Medavoy added, "OZi's narrative powerfully connects to the LA fires and the widespread loss driven by climate change, and we are proud to support this initiative." All proceeds from the song and film will be donated to the charities International Animal Rescue and the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme.
