Show moreAlex Cooper Sets Surprise Podcast Special With K-Pop Star Rosé Ahead of the Grammys
This Wednesday, a new two-hour special from "Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper will debut, featuring an in-depth conversation with international music sensation Rosé. Titled "Alex Cooper Presents: A Grammys Special (ft. Rosé)," the episode launches simultaneously on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and SiriusXM at 5 a.m. ET on January 28.
Filmed across various intimate locations in Asia, the special offers a personal look at Rosé's world. The settings include a Seoul cafe, a traditional pocha lunch spot, a karaoke stall, and a Tokyo lounge. Notably, Cooper's team even temporarily converted Rosé's own recording studio into a makeshift "Call Her Daddy" set to capture the candid discussion. Rosé, a member of the record-breaking K-pop group Blackpink, was recently honored as Variety’s Global Hitmaker of the Year for 2025, a testament to her powerful solo brand. Blackpink, formed by YG Entertainment in 2016, is renowned for shattering global barriers for K-pop girl groups, creating a platform that has enabled members like Rosé to pursue successful individual careers on the world stage.
A central topic of the interview is Rosé's historic recognition at the upcoming 68th Grammy Awards. She earned three nominations for her collaboration "APT." with Bruno Mars in the categories of Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Additionally, the "F1 The Album" soundtrack, which features her track "Messy," is nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. The Grammy ceremony will be broadcast live from Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena on CBS and Paramount+ on February 1. Industry analysts note that such a nomination haul is unprecedented for a K-pop soloist; a win could redefine her career trajectory and signal a broader shift in how major Western awards institutions evaluate artists from the genre. As music critic Dr. Elena Choi observed, "Rosé's Grammy nods are a watershed moment, demonstrating that the global music industry is finally recognizing the individual artistry within K-pop's powerhouse groups."
This special represents a continued push by "Call Her Daddy" into high-profile, crossover entertainment content. The podcast, which Cooper produces under her Unwell Network and often cites as the top podcast for female listeners, has pursued several major partnerships. These include a November episode with "Dancing With the Stars" finalists Mark Ballas and Whitney Leavitt in collaboration with ABC, and a September ABC exclusive revealing Taylor Frankie Paul as the next "Bachelorette." This strategic expansion follows a landmark 2024 business deal where Cooper signed a minimum $100 million, three-year distribution and advertising pact with SiriusXM. This move ended her prior exclusive arrangement with Spotify, granting her significantly more creative and commercial independence to pursue projects like this Rosé special.
