Show moreNoah Kahan Announces Fourth Album ‘The Great Divide’
Noah Kahan has revealed that his fourth studio album, titled "The Great Divide," is scheduled for release on April 24. The announcement was made via the singer-songwriter's social media channels, where he shared the album's cover art and offered insight into its creation. Kahan described writing the material in a variety of locations, from a piano in Nashville to a pond in Guilford, Vermont, and from a storied upstate New York studio to a farm with a firetower in Only, Tennessee. The first single, also named "The Great Divide," is set to drop this Friday.
In his post, Kahan characterized the new songs as his most personal work yet. "They are the words I would say if I could," he wrote, explaining that the music represents his fears and a deep exploration of the people and experiences that have shaped him. He expressed gratitude to his fans, stating, "The music here is my best attempt to delve deeper... I am grateful for all of it, for all of you, for listening to them, if you choose to do so." This introspective approach follows the massive success of his 2022 album "Stick Season," a folk-infused breakthrough that spawned a popular expanded edition in 2023 and cemented his status as a major touring force.
The Vermont-born artist's rapid ascent was formally recognized with a Best New Artist nomination at the 2024 Grammy Awards, capping off years of relentless touring that built a devoted fanbase. Industry experts note that Kahan's blend of raw lyricism and arena-ready folk-rock has filled a unique niche in modern music. "He's managed to translate deeply personal, regional storytelling into a universal language that connects on a massive scale," observed music critic Lena Shaw, highlighting the strategic growth from his earlier albums "Busyhead" and "I Was / I Am."
Adding to this momentum, a documentary chronicling Kahan's career journey is currently in production. The film is a collaboration between Live Nation Productions, Federal Films, Polygram Entertainment, and RadicalMedia. It promises to trace his evolution from the early days of his first albums to his current star status, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the person behind the rapidly growing phenomenon. This project underscores how his authentic narrative has resonated beyond just music, transforming into a broader cultural story.
