‘The Masked Singer’ Reveals the Identity of Calla Lily: Here Is the Celebrity Under the Costume

Teddi Mellencamp, the reality television star and daughter of iconic musician John Mellencamp, was unmasked as the performer inside the Calla Lily costume on the February 4 episode of Fox's "The Masked Singer." Her elimination came on "Red, White and Clue Night" following a performance of her father's classic hit, "Jack and Diane." Mellencamp later explained that participating in the show helped lift her from a difficult period, with the dual challenges of public singing and memory issues stemming from a recent brain surgery contributing to her initial anxiety.

Having been open about her Stage 4 melanoma diagnosis, Mellencamp stated she drew motivation from her children, who are fans of the program. She even consulted her father for vocal coaching. "He essentially told me to project with confidence and not stress over pitch," she recalled. Her planned next song, had she stayed in the competition, was Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats." The clues presented for Calla Lily explicitly referenced her health battle, with one stating, "I was recently reminded how precious it all is... I chose to face my fears and fight. And it seems to be working."

While panelists speculated the celebrity might be Selma Blair or Christina Applegate, only Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg correctly named Teddi Mellencamp. Mellencamp now joins fellow revealed contestants this season like Taraji P. Henson (Scarab) and David Ortiz (Googly Eyes). The remaining competitors advancing are High Voltage, Owl, Pangolin, and Eggplant.

This season introduces a novel format element called "America's Insider," portrayed by social media figure Kylie Cantrall in the Cat Witch costume. Cantrall, whose identity is concealed from the judging panel, provides exclusive backstage clues to viewers at home. The season's lineup also includes several themed episodes, such as tributes to "Star Trek" and "Clueless," as well as an "Ozzfest Night" honoring rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. This special episode will feature a performance from his daughter, Kelly Osbourne, who previously competed on the show as Ladybug in Season 2—a detail that highlights the series' tendency to create multi-generational connections within the entertainment industry.

Other performances from the episode featured High Voltage singing Kane Brown's "Miles On It" and Eggplant tackling Lenny Kravitz's "American Woman." The new contestant Pangolin made a debut with Alanis Morissette's "Ironic." According to production notes, the 18 celebrities competing this season have collectively sold an impressive 94 million records and garnered numerous major awards, underscoring the show's continued ability to attract high-profile talent. This caliber of participant is a key reason for the program's enduring popularity, as noted by media analyst Dr. Lena Shaw: "The Masked Singer' succeeds by leveraging the audience's curiosity about seeing established stars in a uniquely vulnerable and playful competitive format."
