EJAE Releases New Heartbreak Anthem ‘Time After Time’

Grammy-winning artist EJAE has unveiled her latest single, "Time After Time," released by Universal Music. Described as a bittersweet heartbreak anthem, the track follows her 2023 release "In Another World." Its lyrics explore the haunting persistence of memories from a past relationship, articulating a common struggle to let go. EJAE shared the song's deeply personal inspiration, noting, "The melody of 'Time After Time' was stuck in my head for years, just like the person I wrote it about." This emotional resonance is a hallmark of her songwriting, which recently earned her a spot on Variety’s prestigious 10 Artisans to Watch list.

Before her solo success, EJAE established herself as a prolific songwriter for major K-pop acts, contributing to hits like Red Velvet's era-defining "Psycho," as well as tracks for AESPA, Le Sserafim, and TWICE. Her transition to a global audience was catalyzed by the Netflix film "KPop Demon Hunters," where she provided the singing voice for the character Rumi. The movie's fictional group, Huntr/X, spawned four Billboard Top 10 singles, introducing her vocal talent to a massive audience. This dual expertise in crafting and performing hits has become a defining feature of her career.

EJAE's current awards season has been exceptionally strong, underscoring her industry impact. She recently secured a Critics Choice Award and a Golden Globe for "Golden," a song she co-wrote for a major film soundtrack. That track is also nominated for an Academy Award, a rare feat that highlights her crossover appeal. Her recent Grammy win, which she called a "reminder to never give up" in a social media post, holds particular significance. As she noted, it represents a milestone for Asian-American women in music. She is set to receive further recognition for "Golden" at the upcoming Santa Barbara International Film Festival Variety Artisans Awards.

Industry observers point to EJAE's path—from sought-after songwriter to award-winning performer—as indicative of a broader shift where composers are achieving mainstream celebrity. "We're seeing the erosion of the old divide between the studio and the stage," notes music analyst Clara Shin. "Artists like EJAE prove that songwriting prowess can be the foundation for a formidable public career." Her new single, "Time After Time," is available now on all major streaming platforms.
