Paramount Pictures has officially scheduled a wide theatrical release for April 9, 2027, for "Get Lite," a film marking the feature directorial debut of multi-hyphenate artist Teyana Taylor. The project, which will star and be co-produced by Emmy-nominated actress Storm Reid, represents a significant studio-backed opportunity for Taylor, who is primarily known as a Grammy-nominated singer and dynamic performer.
Industry veteran Kenya Barris, the creator behind hit series like "Black-ish," is also attached as a producer, lending considerable creative weight to the venture. Taylor will serve as an executive producer on the film, maintaining a hands-on role in its realization. This move by Paramount signals a growing trend of studios investing in fresh directorial voices with established fanbases in other entertainment sectors.
In the same announcement, the studio confirmed release dates for upcoming projects from other directors, including Jonathan Levine, known for heartfelt comedies like "50/50," and Potsy Ponciroli. Further casting details and plot specifics for "Get Lite" are expected to be revealed in the coming months as production develops.
