Charli xcx, Rüfüs Du Sol, the Strokes to Headline Outside Lands 2026

The 2026 edition of San Francisco's premier summer event, the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, is set for August 7-9, returning to its long-time home in Golden Gate Park. Topping the bill are three major acts: chart-topping pop innovator Charli XCX, the atmospheric live electronic ensemble RÜFÜS DU SOL, and seminal indie rock pioneers The Strokes. Since its 2008 inception, the festival has been celebrated for its eclectic programming, a tradition continued with a strong supporting lineup. This includes the introspective alt-pop of The xx, the dynamic hip-hop of Baby Keem, the hardcore punk intensity of Turnstile, and the bass-heavy collaboration GRIZTRONICS, a joint project from producers Subtronics and GRiZ.

Further enriching the schedule are performances from a wide spectrum of artists. Attendees can expect sets from the psychedelic pop project Djo (fronted by actor Joe Keery), the cinematic stylings of Labrinth, the enduring anthems of Empire Of The Sun and Death Cab for Cutie, and the viral rap of GloRilla. The depth continues with buzzworthy acts like the witty post-punk duo Wet Leg, indie stalwarts Modest Mouse, and rising stars such as the haunting Ethel Cain and the energetic rock band Geese. This carefully assembled roster ensures a wide-ranging musical experience across the park's multiple stages throughout the weekend.

A cornerstone of the Outside Lands identity is its dedicated SOMA tent, a focused environment for house and techno. The 2026 programming for this stage features the driving techno of German producer Boys Noize, the immersive melodic journeys of Lane 8, and the high-energy HYPERBEAM showcase led by Odd Mob and OMNOM. This specialized area allows the festival to deeply engage the electronic dance music community without diluting its broader mainstream lineup. Industry experts see this as a savvy operational model. "Festivals that successfully create distinct, high-quality niches within their grounds, like SOMA, build stronger loyalty and can weather market fluctuations more effectively," notes festival strategist Maria Flores.

Ticket sales will commence with prioritized presales. Both the Loyalty presale for previous festival-goers and the presale for Chase credit cardholders open on Monday, March 3, at 12 p.m. PT. The general public sale follows on Wednesday, March 5, also at 12 p.m. PT. With a lineup that strategically bridges iconic legacy acts with current chart-dominating artists, high demand is expected, potentially leading to swift sell-outs for various ticket tiers.

The festival's venue is integral to its appeal. Golden Gate Park—a 1,017-acre urban oasis that is 20% larger than New York's Central Park—offers a majestic, green setting far removed from typical asphalt fairgrounds. The event has grown into a significant economic engine for San Francisco; the 2025 festival alone drew an estimated 220,000 attendees and infused tens of millions of dollars into the local economy. As it prepares for its 18th iteration, Outside Lands 2026 continues its mission of uniting diverse musical eras and styles within one of the nation's most iconic public spaces, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of the West Coast cultural calendar.
