Show more‘Heated Rivalry,’ Cynthia Erivo and Lady Gaga Win Big at Queerties Awards: Full Winners List
The 14th annual Queerties Awards in Los Angeles placed the LGBTQ community firmly at the helm, with all winners determined by public vote. The ceremony, set to stream on WOW Presents Plus starting March 19, was hosted by celebrated drag superstar Trixie Mattel. The highest honor of the night, the Badass award, was claimed by actor Jonathan Bailey. Bailey rose to global prominence for his portrayal of Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix's period phenomenon "Bridgerton," a role that cemented his status as a leading man and a significant queer figure in mainstream entertainment.
In the television categories, the drama "Heated Rivalry" secured Best TV Drama, while its star François Arnaud won for TV Performance. The music category saw Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra" crowned Best Anthem. A particularly notable achievement belonged to Cynthia Erivo, who scored a rare double victory. She was honored for Film Performance in "Wicked: For Good" and received the Read award for her memoir "Simply More." This crossover success underscores a trend where artists build deeper cultural impact by excelling in multiple disciplines, as noted by entertainment analyst Dr. Lena Shaw: "When a performer like Erivo demonstrates mastery across film and literature, it creates a more multidimensional public persona that can engage audiences on several levels simultaneously."
Special recognitions highlighted influential voices across comedy and activism. The Icon Award was presented to trailblazing comedian and advocate Margaret Cho, whose decades of candid work have paved the way for Asian American and LGBTQ representation. Comic actor Megan Stalter received the Vanguard Award, and comedian-writer Mae Martin was honored with the Groundbreaker Award. The awards are produced by Q.Digital, the parent entity of Queerty. "These awards are uniquely shaped by the community," stated Q.Digital CEO Scott Gatz. "With millions of votes from LGBTQ+ individuals and allies, The Queerties celebrate the stories and talents that most authentically mirror our collective experiences."
The breadth of winners reflected the wide spectrum of contemporary LGBTQ media. Additional accolades went to the comedy series "Boots," the tactical reality show "The Traitors," and Olympian Gus Kenworthy as Sports Hero. The full list, spanning from Future All-Star Suzie Toot to the digital series "Dragvestigations," highlights the vibrant diversity within community storytelling. The event's streaming home, WOW Presents Plus, is a major destination for queer content globally. Launched by World of Wonder—the production force behind the iconic "RuPaul's Drag Race"—the platform has built a dedicated international subscriber base with its original LGBTQ-focused series, providing a natural and expansive stage for this community-curated celebration.
