Lil Wayne Extends ‘Tha Carter’ 20th Anniversary Tour With 25+ North American Dates
Rap superstar Lil Wayne is dramatically extending his current concert series, which honors the twenty-year legacy of his foundational "Tha Carter" album franchise. The artist revealed plans this week for over 25 additional North American stops slated for the latter half of the year. This expansion underscores the enduring cultural footprint of a series that began in 2004 and recently saw renewed commercial triumph with 2025's 'Tha Carter VI.' Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., is a multi-Grammy winner and one of hip-hop's most influential and best-selling artists. His career, spanning over a quarter-century, is inextricably linked to the "Tha Carter" albums, a collection that has defined his artistic evolution and generated countless hit singles.
The newly added shows will predominantly feature fellow rap heavyweight 2 Chainz as a special guest, while The Game is confirmed for a segment of the dates, creating distinct experiences in different markets. Tours celebrating landmark hip-hop albums have become significant events, drawing both longtime devotees and newer listeners. Dr. Maya Chen of Soundscape Analytics Group notes, "Wayne's work has a rare cross-generational appeal. These concerts function as living retrospectives, affirming an artistic legacy that continues to evolve and command attention."
A multi-phase ticket on-sale process is scheduled for the 2026 dates. Initial access will be granted through a Citi cardmember presale, opening Wednesday, March 18, at 10 a.m. local time and closing Thursday, March 19, at 10 p.m. local time via Citi Entertainment. An artist presale will follow, starting at 12 p.m. local time on March 18. Any remaining tickets will be released to the general public on Friday, March 20, at 10 a.m. local time. Complete details are available on the official tour website and citientertainment.com.
The sprawling itinerary launches on June 30 at the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, Maine, and wraps on October 17 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. The route includes major arenas and amphitheaters like Columbus's Nationwide Arena, Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, and the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in New York. Notably, a date at Reading, Pennsylvania's Santander Arena is not under the Live Nation banner, suggesting a strategic mix of promotional partners for this leg. Organizing a tour of this scale is a complex undertaking, requiring coordination of advanced stage production, audio-visual systems, and crew logistics across dozens of cities to meet the high expectations of today's concert audiences.
