Trap Dickey Signs to Top Dawg Entertainment (EXCLUSIVE)

In a major career move, rapper Trap Dickey has officially joined the prestigious ranks of Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE). The South Carolina artist's signing, revealed exclusively by Variety, was executed in partnership with 11 Music Group LLC. He now finds himself alongside labelmates such as SZA, Schoolboy Q, and Doechii on one of hip-hop's most respected rosters.

The announcement follows a breakout year for the emcee, marked by several key moments. These include a high-profile appearance on streamer Kai Cenat's "Mafiathon 3," a widely-shared "On the Radar" freestyle, and his January single "Down South," a collaboration with fellow rapper Key Glock. Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, TDE's founder and CEO, emphasized the artist's genuine background. "Trap Dickey has a real story that comes straight from his life," Tiffith stated. "That kind of authenticity is exactly what we look for at TDE. We're excited to welcome him to our roster."

For his part, Trap Dickey compared the signing to a major sports triumph. "Being signed to TDE feels like joining the Golden State Warriors or the Lakers," he said. "I'm looking forward to a winning season with TDE." The Hartsville, South Carolina native began his musical journey at age 21, a period tragically defined by his being accidentally shot in a crossfire. This life-altering event became a catalyst, driving him to pursue music professionally. His breakthrough arrived with the 2023 track "Blue Devils" and its high-profile remix featuring DaBaby, paving the way for subsequent singles like "Yeah Yeah" with Boosie Badazz and "No Love" with BigXthaPlug.

Industry observers note that ties between Dickey and the influential label had been hinted at before. In a June 2025 interview with popular DJ and host Bootleg Kev, the rapper discussed mingling with SZA and former TDE icon Kendrick Lamar at the BET Awards, as well as a prior brief meeting with Tiffith himself. Kev pointed out that Tiffith had even shared one of Dickey's songs on social media, a common precursor to label interest. When Kev remarked, "You on TDE would be crazy," Dickey's response now seems prophetic: "Trap Dickey, TDE, that'd be really nice." This signing underscores TDE's continued strategy of scouting artists with compelling narratives and proven grassroots momentum, a formula that has built its reputation for cultivating Grammy-winning talent.
