‘The Masked Singer’ Reveals Identities of 14 Karat Carrot and Stingray: Here Are the Celebrities Under the Costumes

The March 18th broadcast of Fox's "The Masked Singer" featured a "Star Trek Night" theme and concluded with the identities of two more contestants being revealed. Television's Judge Greg Mathis was unmasked as the 14 Karat Carrot, while actor and singer Evan Ross—the son of Motown legend Diana Ross—was exposed as Stingray.

Mathis's final clue involved a judge's gavel, prompting him to joke about the role reversal after his reveal. "It's ironic being on this side of a panel of judges, when I'm usually the one doing the judging," he said. While panelist Robin Thicke guessed correctly, others speculated about figures like Steve Harvey. For his last performance, Mathis delivered a rendition of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Shining Star." Evan Ross's unmasking was all but confirmed by a clue plaque signed "Mother Supreme," a clear reference to his iconic mother, Diana Ross, whose career with The Supremes and as a solo artist has sold over 100 million records worldwide. Ross performed The Weeknd's "Starboy" before his elimination. Media analysts often point out that such high-profile reveals can reignite public interest in a celebrity's other ventures, offering a valuable promotional boost long after the episode airs.

The installment began with the judges in full sci-fi costume, including Ken Jeong as Spock. Following these two exits, the competition now consists of five remaining masks: Pangolin, Galaxy Girl, Cat Witch, Pugcasso, and Crane. A new element this season is "America's Insider," portrayed by social media influencer Kylie Cantrall from within the costume of Cat Witch, who shares exclusive backstage information solely with the viewing audience.

Mathis and Ross now enter the roster of revealed stars from this season, which already includes former US soccer player and analyst Alexi Lalas (High Voltage) and "Melrose Place" actor Jack Wagner (Eggplant). The production has highlighted the formidable combined achievements of this season's 18 contestants, which encompass 94 million records sold, 47 Teen Choice Award nominations, and accolades ranging from Emmy nods to an Academy Award nomination. This diverse talent pool underscores the show's ability to attract established figures from across the entertainment spectrum.

Hosted by Nick Cannon, Season 14 has organized its episodes around various pop culture themes, such as "Clueless" and an "Ozzfest Night" tribute to rock icon Ozzy Osbourne. The series is an adaptation of a South Korean program and is executive produced by Cannon, Craig Plestis, and Rosie Seitchik. Its history of winners, from rapper T-Pain in the first season to country star Gretchen Wilson more recently, demonstrates its consistent reach into different musical genres and its role as a unique platform for celebrity reinvention.
