Show moreDeath Cab for Cutie, Turnstile, Japanese Breakfast Among Lineup for Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival 2026
The 53rd annual Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival returns to Seattle Center on September 5th and 6th, featuring a diverse lineup of over 30 artists. Headliners include indie rock stalwarts Death Cab for Cutie, hardcore punk band Turnstile, and the acclaimed indie-pop act Japanese Breakfast. The festival, which takes place on the 74-acre campus beneath the iconic Space Needle, will also showcase performances from Blood Orange, Orville Peck, the legendary Bikini Kill, and hip-hop pioneers De La Soul.
Additional notable acts span a wide range of genres, from the synth-pop of Molchat Doma and the experimental sounds of Yves Tumor to the high-energy Japanese idol group ATARASHII GAKKO! and the celebrated rapper Noname, who will mark the 10th anniversary of her landmark mixtape "Telefone." The complete daily schedule has been released, with Turnstile and Japanese Breakfast topping the bill on Saturday, while Death Cab for Cutie and Orville Peck headline Sunday's festivities.
Tickets for the two-day event are currently on sale through the festival's official website. Organizers are offering three tiers: standard general admission, a general admission pass that allows for re-entry, and a deluxe package. In a family-friendly move, children aged 12 and under receive free admission when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Bumbershoot, one of North America's longest-running urban arts festivals, has historically been a significant economic and cultural driver for Seattle, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to the city each Labor Day weekend.
The festival's eclectic curation reflects a deliberate strategy to bridge generations and musical tastes. "Our goal is to create a cultural snapshot," notes a veteran festival programmer, "pairing legacy acts with the most vital new voices." This approach is evident in the lineup, which places 90s riot grrrl icons alongside contemporary electronic producers and international breakout stars. The expansive Seattle Center grounds allow for multiple concurrent stages, minimizing sound bleed and enabling attendees to craft a personalized experience throughout the weekend.
