The Olympic Games are still four years away, but the groundwork for their lasting legacy in Los Angeles is already being laid. A new initiative called Legacy House has unveiled its founding honorary host committee, a star-studded roster that includes Selena Gomez, Christina Aguilera, Ciara, Simu Liu, Jeff Goldblum, and celebrity stylist Law Roach, among many others. The project is designed to channel the energy of LA28 into meaningful, long-term change for the city, well beyond the closing ceremony.

Legacy House isn't a single event, but rather a multi-year platform that will bring together influential voices from entertainment, politics, sports, and advocacy. Through moderated dialogues, roundtables, podcasts, film screenings, and community-driven partnerships, it aims to explore the intersection of athletics, culture, philanthropy, and civic engagement. During the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics, the initiative will operate from a physical venue in Culver City, serving as a hub for these conversations. Notably, while the organization maintains close communication with Olympic organizers, it is not officially part of LA28, operating instead as a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) fiscally sponsored by the Social Impact Fund.

At the helm is Greg Propper, a co-founder of the annual summit "A Day of Unreasonable Conversation," which is known for fostering constructive dialogue across ideological divides. Propper, who also serves as a partner at the strategic agency Bully Pulpit International, will take on the role of executive director for Legacy House. His vision, as he has stated in press materials, is to "create a space where the competitive spirit of the Games translates into collaborative solutions for our city's most pressing challenges." This sentiment is echoed by the diverse committee, which includes everyone from Olympic medalists like Michelle Kwan and Gabby Douglas to cultural figures like Tracee Ellis Ross and John Legend.

The full honorary list is a veritable who's who of modern American culture. Alongside the headline names, it features athletes like Russell Westbrook, Abby Wambach, and Myles Garrett; activists and philanthropists such as Darren Walker and Dhar Mann; and creatives including director Dustin Lance Black and designer Mike Amiri. The inclusion of figures like Tom Daley, a British diving champion known for his knitting and LGBTQ+ advocacy, and Gus Kenworthy, an openly gay former freestyle skier, underscores the committee's commitment to inclusivity. As the countdown to 2028 begins, Legacy House appears poised to become a central gathering point for those looking to ensure the Games leave a positive mark on the fabric of Los Angeles, not just its infrastructure.
