Dolly Parton Estate Sets Two-Day DollyFests for Nashville and London in 2027, Says These ‘Parties of a Lifetime’ Will Take the Place of a Public Memorial

The Dolly Parton estate has unveiled its first major public commemorations for the late music icon, announcing "DollyFest: The Celebration of a Lifetime" — a pair of two-day festivals slated for Nashville and London across consecutive weekends in 2027. While exact dates remain under wraps, the estate confirmed that the Nashville edition, originally scheduled for January 2027 with Parton's active involvement, will now proceed as a tribute in her honor, joined by a newly added London counterpart.

For fans seeking a traditional memorial service, this festival may be the closest they'll get. Danny Nozell, Parton's longtime business partner and the founder/CEO of CTK Enterprises — the management firm that oversaw her career for decades — clarified in a statement that "as far as a traditional memorial goes, that is not something Dolly wanted." The announcement describes how "what was originally planned as a multi-artist event for January 2026 in Nashville and intended to feature Parton as performer and host will now morph into a global double-day, double-weekend, double-continent party of a lifetime."

Nozell revealed that the initial concept had been to celebrate Parton's 80th birthday on January 19, 2026 — a milestone that the singer, known for hits like "Jolene" and "9 to 5" as well as her philanthropic work through the Imagination Library, had eagerly anticipated. "What Dolly started, we will ensure is brought to life," he said. "Many people behind the scenes know that DollyFest is a dream of Dolly's that was intended to take place on her 80th birthday in Nashville. We had the venue booked and we had the announcement ready to go. And then, in August 2025, Dolly had to take a step back after her initial health challenges. A lot of people always say, WWDD (What Would Dolly Do?), and, well, at this moment, DollyFest is WDWD (What Dolly Would Do!)."

The estate's approach appears deliberately measured, allowing space for the inevitable wave of tributes this fall while positioning DollyFest as its official commemoration. "We are not discouraging people from celebrating Dolly in the ways they choose," Nozell added. "However, as far as a traditional memorial goes, that is not something Dolly wanted. So, instead, it feels more appropriate for us to take a beat, let all the tributes that immediately make sense occur naturally, and then, see through this festival-style concept that was truly dreamed up by Dolly. This is something that is authentic to her, something that feels right to me, and something that artists and fans around the world can participate in, while also giving everyone time to grieve, and giving everyone time to plan."

Parton, whose career spanned over six decades and earned her numerous accolades including 11 Grammy Awards and a 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, left an indelible mark on country music and popular culture.
