Hilary Duff Signs to Atlantic Records, Preps Docuseries About Return to Music

Hilary Duff has inked a new recording contract with Atlantic Records, marking her official return to the music scene after an extended hiatus. The multi-talented star, whose most recent album was released nearly a decade ago, will soon start creating new music for her dedicated followers.

In a parallel development, Duff will be featured in an upcoming documentary series directed and executive produced by Sam Wrench—known for hit concert films including "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" and "A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter." The series, produced by Next of Kin Content, will offer an intimate look at Duff juggling motherhood, studio sessions, and her first live performances in over ten years. Industry analyst Maria Flores notes, "This kind of authentic storytelling allows fans to connect with artists on a deeper level, transforming a comeback into a shared journey."

Duff’s earlier musical output includes albums such as "Metamorphosis" and "Hilary Duff," released through Buena Vista and Hollywood Records. After joining RCA in 2014, she released the single "Chasing the Sun"—a collaboration with songwriters Jason Reeves, Colbie Caillat, and Toby Gad—and the 2015 album "Breathe In. Breathe Out.," her only project with the label and her first full-length release since 2007’s "Dignity." Her most recent musical offering was a 2022 cover of Third Eye Blind’s "Never Let You Go," created alongside producer RAC and her husband, musician Matthew Koma.

In recent years, Duff has primarily focused on acting, starring in TV Land’s "Younger" from 2015 to 2021 and leading Hulu’s "How I Met Your Father" for two seasons. Her reentry into music represents a meaningful full-circle moment, re-engaging with the artistic foundation that established her fame and rekindling excitement among longtime admirers.
