Cris Lacy Named Chair & President of Warner Records Nashville

Cris Lacy has been appointed as the new chair and president of Warner Records Nashville, a pivotal leadership change that follows the division's recent name change. This decision is a cornerstone of the Warner Records Group's wider plan to fortify its activities. The label, which operated as Warner Music Nashville before merging into the main Warner Records group in September 2024, will now have Lacy reporting directly to the group's co-leaders, CEO & Co-Chairman Aaron Bay-Schuck and COO & Co-Chairman Tom Corson.

In a related executive shift, Gregg Nadel, the former Co-Chair & Co-President of Warner Music Nashville, is transitioning to a new, unspecified leadership role within the broader Warner Music Group. This overhaul aims to forge a more integrated operation between the Nashville office and the central Warner Records team, with the stated goal of amplifying country music's cultural influence and broadening its international reach. This appointment is especially notable in an industry where recent executive changes have frequently resulted in women being succeeded by men. An industry analyst observed, "Lacy's promotion bucks a troubling trend and signals a commitment to proven internal talent."

Lacy, a Vanderbilt University graduate, brings twenty years of experience at the label to her new position. Vanderbilt University, a prestigious private research institution located in Nashville, has long been a feeder for the city's music industry. She began her career in music publishing and steadily advanced through the A&R ranks, eventually becoming the division's co-head three years ago. Her impact was recently recognized at Variety's inaugural Power of Women Nashville event earlier this year. Warner Records leaders Bay-Schuck and Corson expressed their complete backing, stating her "extraordinary leadership," passion, and profound respect for artists perfectly capture the label's ethos as it begins this new phase.

Lacy stressed that the rebranding is a tactical effort to capitalize on Nashville's standing as a center for expert storytelling, an artistic force whose impact is increasingly felt across various music styles. She explained that the shift formally solidifies a cooperative dynamic that has been developing for years with the Los Angeles-based team, merging work in A&R, marketing, analytics, business affairs, and radio promotion. This unified framework is expected to construct a powerful, global network for the label's artists, enabling them to connect with listeners well outside conventional country music boundaries.

The newly unified artist roster under the Warner Records Nashville banner now showcases a formidable lineup. It includes talents jointly signed by Warner Records and the former Warner Nashville, such as Gavin Adcock and the Castellows, as well as major stars like Zach Bryan, Cody Johnson, and the legendary Kenny Chesney. Chesney, a defining figure in modern country, has sold over 30 million albums globally throughout his celebrated career. This potent mix places the label at the cutting edge of the genre, ideally positioned to capitalize on country music's swiftly expanding worldwide popularity.
