Heart’s Ann Wilson to Premiere New Documentary, ‘In My Voice,’ With 10-City Screening/Q&A Tour (EXCLUSIVE)

Following her recent tour with the legendary rock band Heart, Ann Wilson is embarking on a unique 10-city tour this spring. This special engagement will feature screenings of "In My Voice," a new documentary focused solely on her life and career, followed by live Q&A sessions with Wilson and the film's director, Barbara Hall. The tour is designed for intimate venues, with stops planned for City Winery locations in New York, Nashville, Boston, and Chicago, as well as iconic sites like Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Seattle’s Neptune Theatre, and venues in Vancouver and Toronto. A Los Angeles date is also scheduled to be announced.

Ann Wilson, whose powerful vocals defined Heart classics like "Barracuda" and "Alone," has long been celebrated within the context of the band she co-founded with her sister Nancy. This project marks a significant departure, offering a deep dive into her individual journey. Both Wilson and Hall emphasize the importance of a communal theater experience for the film's debut. "Since it's a cinematic piece, a proper theater setting is ideal," Wilson explained. Hall, an acclaimed filmmaker known for her work on "American Masters" and "Biography" specials about artists like Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline, echoed this sentiment, noting the irreplaceable value of sharing emotional reactions with a live audience.

The post-screening discussions are intended to be interactive, allowing fans to pose questions directly. Hall anticipates robust dialogue, acknowledging that a feature-length film cannot encapsulate an entire life. "If viewers leave wanting to know even more, then I feel I've succeeded," she said, joking that Wilson's full story could fill an encyclopedia. Wilson believes the documentary's candid nature covers substantial ground, but she welcomes deeper exploration into certain topics. She praised Hall's approach, stating, "It was done with respect and empathy, but also with the guts to be honest."

For Wilson, participating in the project was a revealing process that helped her view her own legacy outside the shadow of the band. "After 50 years, you start to perceive yourself only as part of that partnership. It was interesting to see myself standing alone," she reflected. Hall sees the film as a necessary tribute, arguing that Wilson's influence and story extend far beyond Heart. She cited contemporary singer Chappell Roan, who once remarked that Wilson's "calm, mature voice" guides her thinking, as evidence of the rock icon's enduring and personal impact on other artists.

This documentary tour is just one part of Wilson's busy schedule. She will also perform with her side project, Tripsitter, in Japan, Australia, and Hawaii this summer, ahead of Heart's planned return to touring in 2027. A streaming release for "In My Voice" will be confirmed after the theatrical tour concludes. The current itinerary includes: Seattle (5/11), Vancouver (5/12), Chicago (5/17), Cleveland (5/18), Nashville (5/20), New York (5/27), Bethel, NY (5/29), Toronto (5/30), and Boston (6/01).
