Rapper Offset Shot and Hospitalized in Florida: He Is ‘Stable and Being Closely Monitored,’ Says Rep

Hip-hop artist Offset is recovering in hospital after sustaining a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on Monday evening in Hollywood, Florida. His representative confirmed to Variety that the rapper, born Kiari Cephus, is in stable condition and under close medical supervision. "Offset received treatment for a gunshot injury and remains under observation," the spokesperson stated, emphasizing his stable status.

While the full circumstances are under investigation, preliminary information from TMZ places the incident near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Law enforcement from the Seminole Police Department reported responding to a valet area shortly after 7 p.m., where one person was injured and later taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. Officers secured the scene, detained two individuals, and confirmed there is no ongoing public threat. The venue, a massive entertainment complex owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida known for hosting major concerts, has resumed normal operations.

Offset, 34, rose to prominence over the past fifteen years as a member of the groundbreaking rap group Migos, alongside Quavo and his late cousin Takeoff. The trio, credited with popularizing the distinctive "Migos flow" that dominated 2010s hip-hop, achieved massive success with anthems like "Bad and Boujee" and their "Culture" album series. Following the group's ascent, Offset pursued a solo career, releasing projects including "Father of 4" (2019), "Set It Off" (2023), and "Kiara" (2025). His 2024 album, "Haunted by Fame," featured collaborations with artists such as YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

Tragically, this is not the first time gun violence has struck the Migos circle. In November 2022, Takeoff was fatally shot in Houston at age 28, a loss that deeply affected Offset. In a 2023 Variety cover story, he revealed the enduring impact, saying, "I get through my day thinking it’s fake. And I don’t say nothing to nobody about it." Criminal justice experts often point to such recurring trauma within entertainment communities as a compounding public health issue, noting it can influence artistic themes and personal stability. This latest incident, occurring at a high-traffic public venue, will likely renew discussions about security protocols for artists in similar environments.
