Anyma to Perform Surprise Set With Marlon Hoffstadt at Coachella After Cancelled Performance on Friday

Anyma will team up with Berlin-based producer Marlon Hoffstadt for a special back-to-back DJ set this Sunday night, providing a new performance after dangerous weather scrapped his main stage show. The collaborative set is scheduled for 10:45 p.m. PT on the Do Lab stage, an area renowned for its surprise bookings and immersive art installations. The stage's organizers announced the booking on Instagram with the caption, "Let's end at the beginning. Anyma b2b Marlon Hoffstadt close out the Do LaB at 10:45pm tonight."

The artist, real name Matteo Milleri, is widely recognized as one half of the melodic techno duo Tale of Us. The duo's Afterlife label events are famous for their cinematic scale, blending haunting melodies with breathtaking visual production. He was originally slated to debut his ambitious "ÆDEN" audiovisual spectacle following Sabrina Carpenter's Friday headline slot. However, Coachella organizers made a last-minute cancellation due to high winds gusting between 35-40 mph in Indio, notifying attendees via the official app just after midnight. On-site reports described overturned tents in campgrounds, highlighting the severe conditions that made erecting his complex stage setup impossible.

Expressing profound disappointment on social media, Anyma posted a heartfelt apology to fans. "I'm heartbroken," he wrote. "I'm truly devastated and deeply sorry to everyone who showed up to the main stage, and to those watching the livestream at home." He emphasized that safety was the absolute priority, noting his team and festival crews had spent a full year preparing the scuttled presentation. Such cancellations are a growing concern for outdoor festivals globally, as increasingly volatile weather patterns—a potential consequence of climate change—can disrupt even the most meticulously planned events.

Initially, Anyma stated there were no open slots to reschedule his large-scale production and he did not wish to disrupt other artists. Yet, he pledged to find a way to "bring you some music at least." The resulting back-to-back set at the more flexible Do Lab stage fulfills that promise. While a different experience from the planned spectacle, it facilitates a direct musical connection. "This kind of agile response underscores an artist's dedication to their audience and the festival's supportive infrastructure," observes music industry analyst Clara Reed. "It transforms a setback into a distinctive, community-oriented event."

The Do Lab—founded by the producers behind the transformative Lightning in a Bottle festival—has built its identity on curated spontaneity, making it a fitting venue for this impromptu collaboration. For Anyma, whose pioneering visual work has helped define a new era of immersive electronic performance, this set offers a powerful, if unexpected, conclusion to the weekend. He will be joined by Marlon Hoffstadt, an artist celebrated for his energetic, genre-blending house music that often incorporates elements of disco and techno.
