Taylor Momsen Hospitalized for Spider Bite While on AC/DC Tour — Two Years After a Bat Bit Her on AC/DC Tour

Rock singer Taylor Momsen required hospitalization this Tuesday after being bitten by a venomous spider during a concert. The frontwoman for The Pretty Reckless was performing as part of AC/DC's ongoing tour when the incident happened. In an Instagram post, Momsen displayed a concerning photo of a pronounced, blotchy rash that had spread from a bite on her upper ankle to her knee. She captioned the image with a resilient message for fans: "Hospital today, show tomorrow. Poisonous spiders are NO BUENO but the show must go on, see you tomorrow Mexico City."

However, the severity of the situation escalated beyond her initial hopeful update. A subsequent social media post depicted Momsen in a hospital bed wearing a mask and holding an ice pack to her head, accompanied by the text, "Or I just spend the night in the hospital…thank you to the amazing doctors who, well, they know." Official representatives for the artist have so far declined to comment. This alarming episode continues an unusual trend for Momsen, whose tours are becoming as noted for perilous animal encounters as for their musical intensity.

This incident marks the second time in recent years the performer has needed urgent medical care following an on-stage animal attack. Back in 2022, during a show in Sevilla, a bat landed on and bit her leg while she was singing. She later revealed the ironic timing, as the bite occurred during her band's song ‘Witches Burn’. The event led to a rigorous, two-week series of rabies vaccinations, with hospital staff dubbing her "#batgirl" after local media coverage. As music historian Dr. Lena Shaw noted, "Such incidents, while unfortunate, are woven into rock folklore. They underscore the unpredictable, visceral nature of live performance that defines the genre's legacy."

The Pretty Reckless—a band Momsen founded following her early fame as Jenny Humphrey on the hit CW series "Gossip Girl"—is celebrated for its gritty, blues-influenced hard rock. They are currently on a demanding tour schedule that runs through early December. Following the planned Mexico City date, the band is set to perform next on June 5th in Nuremberg, Germany, continuing their role as the opening act for rock titans AC/DC. AC/DC, the Australian band behind anthems like "Highway to Hell," is itself renowned for decades of legendary, high-stakes global touring.
