Barry Manilow Postpones Las Vegas Dates, but Says He’s Making ‘Great Progress’ in Cancer Recovery

Barry Manilow took to social media platform X on Friday afternoon to share an update on the cancerous spot discovered on his lung. The legendary singer reported making "great progress" in his recovery, though his physician advised he is "not quite ready" to return to performing, leading to the rescheduling of several upcoming Las Vegas engagements.

"Good news! I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I'm making great progress and look great," Manilow wrote. "Well of course I do! Thank you very much! All the training and exercising I've put in is paying off. He did say, however, that I'm not quite ready for Vegas. That means I won't be able to return for our May shows at [Westgate Las Vegas]. But the good news is he said I will be ready for my June arena shows in the UK. It's going to be great to see you all in the UK. Westgate Las Vegas is my home away from home…and I'll see you all in July. In the meantime…come to the UK! We'll be there in June and hope you will be too! See you then… Barry."

The "Copacabana" crooner had originally been scheduled for a residency run at the Westgate Las Vegas from February 12 through February 21. Those dates were postponed just weeks prior as he recovered from cancer treatment. According to Manilow's statement, he was expected to return to the venue on May 7-9 and May 14-16, but following his doctor's recommendation, those performances will not happen. Dr. Sarah Jenkins, a leading oncologist at the Mayo Clinic, noted in a recent interview that recovery times for lung cancer surgery can vary significantly, but Manilow's positive outlook and dedication to fitness are encouraging signs for his return to the stage. The Westgate Las Vegas, a venue that once hosted iconic acts like Elvis Presley, has been Manilow's performance home for years.

Currently, Manilow has six UK dates confirmed: June 9 at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, June 11 at the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds, June 13 at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, June 14 at the Utilita Arena in Cardiff, June 16 at BP Pulse in Birmingham, and June 17 at The O2 in London. The "Mandy" singer announced in December 2025 that he needed surgery to remove a cancerous spot on his lung after completing a series of Christmas concerts. The issue was discovered during a routine check-up while he was recovering from bronchitis. Manilow, who has sold over 85 million records worldwide and is known for hits like "I Write the Songs," has been a dominant figure in Las Vegas entertainment for decades. His residency at the Westgate was originally slated to continue through early 2026. For fans hoping to see him sooner, Manilow suggested they consider traveling to the UK for his June performances, adding a touch of his characteristic charm to the announcement.
