‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Global Concert Tour Set by Netflix and AEG Presents

Netflix has unveiled plans for a global concert tour inspired by its animated blockbuster, "KPop Demon Hunters." The announcement was made during the company's upfront presentation in New York City, a key event where executives pitch forthcoming projects to advertisers to secure commercial sponsorship. According to Dr. Lena Park, a media studies professor at Seoul National University, "This represents a strategic shift for Netflix, moving from passive viewership to hands-on, revenue-generating events. It's a logical next step for content with such passionate followings."

While specific details about the tour remain limited, a company statement characterizes it as "a live experience that will bring elements of the two-time Oscar-winning film to life in spectacular ways." A registration page has been launched for updates on ticket sales, host cities, and performance dates. The tour is a collaboration with AEG Presents, a Los Angeles-based live entertainment giant that operates iconic venues like The O2 in London and co-owns the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. This partnership leverages AEG's extensive global network to reach fans worldwide.

During Wednesday's event, Amy Reinhard, Netflix’s president of ad sales, highlighted the film's pervasive cultural impact. "Obviously, nothing has captured the world's attention quite like 'KPop Demon Hunters,'" she said, noting its influence on sing-alongs, Halloween costumes, and mentions at high-profile events such as the U.S. Open and Buckingham Palace. Reinhard also revealed a 25% increase in flight bookings to South Korea, directly attributing this surge to the movie's popularity. "Today, it remains the most popular film on Netflix," she added. "We're thrilled to announce that next year, in partnership with AEG Presents, we'll sustain that momentum with our first world concert tour. This live event will bring fans closer to the characters and music they love. We'll share more about cities later this year, so stay tuned."

The film, which premiered in June 2025, centers on Huntr/x, a K-pop girl group featuring members Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. The official logline describes them as individuals who "use their secret identities as badass demon hunters to protect their fans from an ever-present supernatural threat," culminating in a showdown with "an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise." The voice cast includes Arden Cho as Rumi (with Ejae providing her singing voice), May Hong as Mira (with Audrey Nuna singing), and Ji-young Yoo as Zoey (with Rei Ami singing). Maggie Kang co-wrote and co-directed the project alongside Chris Appelhans. Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, the movie became a cultural phenomenon almost instantly. It amassed 325.1 million views within its first 91 days on Netflix, making it the platform's most-watched English-language film ever, and earned $24.7 million from a limited theatrical run. This success underscores the explosive growth of K-pop in Western markets over the past decade, with groups like BTS and BLACKPINK paving the way for such cross-media ventures. Industry analysts predict this tour could significantly boost Netflix's brand engagement, following the model of immersive experiences inspired by hits like "Stranger Things," while also cementing the film's legacy beyond the screen.
