Show moreAsake Announces ‘In God We Trust’ Tour With Uncle Waffles (EXCLUSIVE)
Nigerian music sensation Asake is preparing for another major concert series, announcing his "In God We Trust Tour" to support his fourth studio album, "M$ney," which was released on May 1. The 13-date trek will span North America and Europe, featuring special appearances by South African DJ and producer Uncle Waffles at select shows. The tour is set to launch on July 4 with a headline performance at Afro Nation in Portimão, Portugal, and will conclude on October 24 at the Accor Arena in Paris, France. Notably, Asake will perform at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, following his sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in August 2024 during his "Lungu Boy World Tour."
The two-time Grammy-nominated artist, known for blending Yoruba storytelling with Afrobeats, fuji music, and amapiano, has described the upcoming tour as a live extension of his latest project. "This tour will bring the themes of 'M$ney' to life. It's a reflection of everything the album represents, from gratitude to growth," Asake said in a statement. "I look forward to taking this experience across the globe." The album marks the first release under his own label, Giran Republic, in partnership with Empire, his long-time label collaborator. For North American dates, Uncle Waffles will join as a special guest, adding what Asake calls "another layer of energy and culture to the shows." Uncle Waffles, widely recognized as a leading figure in mainstream amapiano, noted, "There's a mutual respect between me and Asake because we both understand what it takes to bring our sounds to international stages." This partnership builds on Asake's previous work with amapiano, including his Grammy-nominated single "Amapiano" from his sophomore album "Work of Art." Uncle Waffles recently released her sophomore EP, "4 Da Streets," on May 8, a collaborative project with producer Royal Musiq.
Asake's last North American live performance was his Red Bull Symphonic concert, where he reimagined fan favorites with orchestral arrangements backed by classical instrumentalists and Nigerian talking drummers. That show featured guest appearances by Central Cee, Gunna, Tiakola, Fridayy, and Wizkid. Ticket sales for the upcoming tour will begin with an artist presale on Wednesday, May 27, at 10 a.m. local time, followed by local, promoter, and ticketing presales on Thursday, May 28, at the same time. Public on-sale is scheduled for Friday, May 29, at 10 a.m. local time. The tour dates include stops at major venues such as Chicago's Credit Union 1 Arena, Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, and Los Angeles' Greek Theatre, with Uncle Waffles joining at all North American shows except the Afro Nation opener.
