Show moreBigBang Sets 31-Show Worldwide Stadium Tour for 20th Anniversary
K-pop legends BigBang have announced a historic reunion with a sprawling 31-date stadium world tour, marking two decades since their groundbreaking debut. The iconic trio—comprising G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung—will embark on their first major international trek since 2017, with the tour kicking off on August 21 at Goyang Stadium in Goyang, South Korea, and concluding on February 28, 2027. The announcement, made on Thursday, reveals a multi-continental itinerary that includes stops across Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia, underscoring the group's sustained global appeal. G-Dragon, often hailed as the "King of K-pop" for his songwriting and fashion influence, has been a central figure in shaping the genre's sound, while Taeyang's vocal prowess and Daesung's versatile talents have cemented their legacy as pioneers.
The tour's schedule features key cities such as Oakland, East Rutherford, Paris, London, Sydney, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Osaka, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Kaohsiung. This follows BigBang's return to the stage at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, as well as their 2022 single "Still Life," which marked their first new music in four years. Official ticketing details and the tour's title remain under wraps, but fans can register for updates via the group's b.stage platform. AEG Presents, a global leader in live entertainment known for producing major tours for artists like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, is handling production. This partnership suggests a high-budget, visually spectacular show is in the works. Notably, AEG's involvement often signals state-of-the-art stage design and immersive fan experiences, as seen in their work for Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour.
Over the past two decades, BigBang has played a pivotal role in transforming K-pop into a worldwide phenomenon. Formed by YG Entertainment in 2006, the group has amassed a massive international following through their genre-defying music, extensive touring, and broader cultural influence. Their catalog includes iconic hits like "Lie," "Last Farewell," "Haru Haru," "Fantastic Baby," and "Bang Bang Bang." Industry experts predict this tour could set new benchmarks for K-pop live performances, given the group's sustained popularity and the scale of the venues. "BigBang's ability to draw millions of fans globally is a testament to their lasting impact on the music industry," said Dr. Sarah Kim, a K-pop cultural analyst at Seoul National University. "This tour isn't just a reunion; it's a statement about the genre's evolution and its ability to sustain decades-long careers." YG Entertainment, founded in 1996 by Yang Hyun-suk, has been instrumental in launching acts like 2NE1 and BLACKPINK, but BigBang remains its most influential group.
The tour's ambitious schedule includes multiple-night stands in key markets, with three consecutive shows at Goyang Stadium, three at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium, and three at Tokyo Dome. Other highlights include performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Stade de France in Paris, Taipei Dome, Singapore's National Stadium, and Accor Stadium in Sydney. This extensive itinerary underscores BigBang's dedication to reaching their global fanbase, known as V.I.P.s, who have eagerly awaited a full-scale reunion since the group's hiatus. With over 31 dates spread across 18 months, the tour is poised to be one of the largest K-pop productions in history. Notably, Tokyo Dome—a venue that has hosted legendary acts like The Beatles and Michael Jackson—will see the group perform three nights, a testament to their enduring draw in Japan, one of their strongest markets outside Korea. This level of demand reflects the group's ability to sell out massive arenas, a feat rarely achieved by non-Japanese artists in the country.
