Show moreAMC Theatres CEO Shares Detailed Account of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding: ‘It Did Not Look Like Madison Square Garden’
In a now-deleted social media post from Friday night, AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron provided an unusually detailed glimpse inside the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, which took place at New York's Madison Square Garden. The 70-year-old executive described a venue transformed beyond recognition, with the interior entirely draped in peach and white fabrics covering floors, walls, and ceilings. Large, year-by-year photographs of the couple—from infancy through their late teens—lined the space. A separate section of the arena was completely sealed off, erasing all evidence of its usual role hosting basketball and hockey games. "Somehow magically, someone created an outdoor garden at a lush countryside retreat," Aron wrote, noting that this area featured green and white drapes, real flowers, and what appeared to be artificial trees, arranged around 15 rows of roughly 75 chairs. Despite an estimated 1,000 guests in attendance, he remarked that the event felt surprisingly intimate, with everything kept close.
Aron recounted that "romantic songs played" to set the atmosphere, before "a few violins and cello ushered in the wedding party." He did not directly name the officiant, but it was later confirmed to be actor and comedian Adam Sandler, whom Aron described as "so warm and welcoming, funny and eloquent." The couple's vows were characterized as "long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent and endearing." Aron added, "This is no small love. Each at the absolute pinnacle of their worlds. Each so obviously head over heels about having found their soulmate." He concluded his account with a nod to the couple's fanbases: "Congrats to 'Trav and Tay-tay.' Swifties everywhere and a perhaps larger-than-normal Chiefs Nation wishes that your happy day will continue without end." Swift, whose 2023 "Eras Tour" concert film became a record-breaking box office phenomenon, and Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, have been a high-profile couple since mid-2023.
Adam Aron's connection to Swift dates back to 2023, when he brokered a groundbreaking deal to bring her "Eras Tour" film to AMC theaters worldwide, bypassing traditional Hollywood studios and grossing an impressive $261 million. The AMC headquarters is also located in Kansas City, home to the Chiefs, adding a local business tie to the singer's relationship with Kelce. While the reason for deleting the post remains unclear, Variety reported that digital wedding invitations included non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). Media law expert Sarah Jenkins notes that NDAs are standard at high-profile celebrity events to control public narratives, and violating them can carry legal repercussions. This deletion highlights the delicate balance between public fascination and private celebration—a recurring theme in major celebrity unions, where even the most carefully managed events can spark unexpected leaks.
