Taylor Swift Praises Phoebe Bridgers’ New Album ‘Lost Weekend,’ Calls It an ‘Absolute Triumph in Every Way’

Taylor Swift has publicly showered praise on Phoebe Bridgers' latest studio effort, "Lost Weekend," calling the record a "complete masterwork" and a testament to the singer-songwriter's artistry. The pop superstar, who collaborated with Bridgers on the 2021 track "Nothing New," took to her Instagram Stories to send a heartfelt congratulatory message to her friend and colleague on the album's release.

"It's her birthday, but she's the one who handed us a present," Swift wrote, referring to Bridgers' recent birthday. "I genuinely cannot stop pressing play. This album is a total triumph from start to finish." In her post, Swift went on to highlight the emotional depth of the songwriting, noting the rare vulnerability and precision with which Bridgers tackles themes of loss and introspection. "To write about grief with such raw detail, and to trust your audience with that level of honesty, is something truly special. Happy birthday, Phoebe — I love you!" she added.

The connection between the two artists runs deeper than a simple endorsement. Bridgers was tapped to lend her vocals to "Nothing New," a vault track that appeared on "Red (Taylor's Version)," Swift's re-recorded 2021 album. At the time, Bridgers told Billboard that the collaboration felt like a "dream come true." "I got emotional just recording it," she recalled. "I think Taylor is not only a phenomenal writer but also a brilliant architect of her own career — building an empire from sheer talent and hard work since she was a teenager is nothing short of inspiring."

The mutual admiration has since evolved into a working relationship on the road. Bridgers joined Swift as an opening act for several stops on the massive Eras Tour in 2023, including shows in Nashville and Philadelphia. Most recently, the two were spotted together at the U.K. wedding of recording engineers Laura Sisk and Oli Jacobs, a gathering of close industry friends that underscored their personal bond. With "Lost Weekend" now in the world, industry observers note that Bridgers' profile has only continued to rise, and a co-sign from one of the biggest names in music is unlikely to hurt its staying power on the charts.
