Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ Smashes Record for Most Weeks at No. 1 for a Non-Holiday Song

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has officially carved its name into the record books, holding the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 20 consecutive weeks. That run marks the longest stretch any non-holiday song has ever enjoyed atop the chart, surpassing the 19-week reigns previously shared by Shaboozey’s 2024 crossover juggernaut “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X’s genre-blending “Old Town Road,” which featured Billy Ray Cyrus. If the track manages to hold on for just a few more weeks, it would overtake Mariah Carey’s seasonal staple “All I Want for Christmas Is You”—the all-time leader with 22 weeks, though that tally has been built up over multiple holiday seasons rather than one continuous streak.

That said, any celebration for Langley might be short-lived. Carey’s festive hit has become something of a December tradition, reliably climbing back to the summit each year and adding to its cumulative total. Even so, the milestone underscores just how deeply “Choosin’ Texas” has resonated across the cultural landscape. The song has already earned a six-times platinum certification, and industry insiders suggest further accolades are all but inevitable. Its dominance also translated into a historic night at the 2026 ACM Awards, where Langley swept all seven of her nominations—a record for any artist in a single year. That haul included female artist of the year, as well as song and single of the year. She followed up with two American Music Awards, taking home best female country artist and best country song, and the momentum hasn’t stopped: the track was recently shortlisted for best country at the 2026 MTV VMAs.

Beyond the trophy case, Langley is channeling that momentum into the second leg of her sold-out “Dandelion” tour, which launched recently and extends into the fall. The itinerary includes a stop at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the famed open-air venue in Colorado celebrated for its natural acoustics and dramatic sandstone formations, plus two nights at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles—a 5,900-seat amphitheater tucked into Griffith Park that has welcomed everyone from Frank Sinatra to The Beatles. Music industry analysts point to Langley’s ascent as part of a broader wave of country’s growing crossover appeal, with streaming services pushing regional sounds far beyond their traditional borders. As one Nashville-based consultant observed, “She’s managed to fuse classic storytelling with contemporary production in a way that rarely lands—especially within a single album cycle. It’s a level of connection that most artists spend entire careers chasing.”
