Slayyyter Announces Third Album ‘Wor$t Girl in America,’ Preps New Single ‘Dance…’

Pop artist Slayyyter has revealed that her third studio album, titled "Wor$t Girl in America," is set for release on March 27. The project marks a significant milestone as her first album under a new deal with Columbia Records, a partnership she first disclosed to Variety last August. The album will be jointly released through RECORDS and Columbia. To build anticipation, a new single called "Dance…" along with its music video will premiere this Friday. This follows a series of earlier preview tracks from the album, including "Crank," "Cannibalism!" and "Beat Up Chanel$."

In an exclusive statement provided to Variety, Slayyyter expressed deep personal connection to the new work. "This album feels like something I was always meant to create," she said. "Over the last two years in the studio, I approached it as if it were my final artistic statement—what would I want to leave behind if I were gone tomorrow? The result is a record that perfectly captures my identity, both as a person and a creative." Music industry analysts note that such a reflective approach is common for artists at pivotal career junctures, especially when transitioning to a major label where commercial pressures can intensify.

Thematically, "Wor$t Girl in America" draws heavily from Slayyyter's formative years growing up in St. Louis, Missouri—a major Midwestern city known for its blend of industrial history and vibrant music scenes. A press release describes the sonic direction as "iPod music," evoking the gritty, "Midwest-core tweaker bar rat" archetypes she encountered in her youth. This focus on regional identity and personal nostalgia represents an evolution from her earlier work, which often embraced a more fantastical, hyper-pop aesthetic.

Slayyyter, whose career launched with her self-titled 2019 mixtape, is preparing for her major-label debut following two independent full-length projects: 2021's "Troubled Paradise" and 2023's "Starfucker." The upcoming album release will be followed by high-profile festival appearances, including performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California this spring and at New York's Governors Ball this summer. These bookings signal a strategic push to reach wider audiences following her label move. The full tracklist and official cover art for "Wor$t Girl in America" are now available.
